A few months ago, I got a DVD burner for $60 USD and tried to install it myself. I spent several hours trying to wire things so my CD burner was slaved to the DVD burner, and my old 36x CD-Rom that I've had since I first got this computer something like seven or eight years ago (might have been shorter) was slaved to my harddrive since the cable that hooked them to the motherboard only had two plugs (three including the end that hooked into the motherboard).

I finally get everything hooked up and turn on my computer, and what happens? neither '98, nor XP (I multiboot for older games) can recognize what should be a plug-n-play drive. Add in a couple more hours trying to find and install the driver for it, and I called it quits. I took my computer back to the computer store I bought the drive from and spent a further $75 USD for them to fix it. I was without my computer for a week, and it just happened to be the first week of classes at my college. Needless to say, I was mighty pissed.

Awesome Bro

Every computer I seem to buy has heat problems within 2 months. I'm cursed with it, I'm telling you. I have friends who get a pc, Treat it like shit inside and out and it works a charm! I broke my old desk before I made my own becase my pc shut off (without warning) when I had 4-5 hours of PSD's open. Sure the main document I was working on was fine, but the others were lost. It's not the fact I failed to save the outstanding .PSD's, t's the fact that I invest so much money into these things and yet they still seem to turn off without warning.

I'm on my laptop at present as I'm waiting for a thorough clean of my pc come next weekend. I have just installed the full potential of 4GB ram (Birthday present off the .mrs) and I simply can't wait! I've ordered a cooling system and an external too. All these un-expected shut downs are surely taking a toll on my internal HD and it's only a matter of time before it corrupts ;-;

All in all, I broke my desk. I liked that desk :(

Be careful with water-cooling systems: If they bust and/or leak, all your warranties will be voided. No card manufacturer nowadays covers water damage by cooling systems.

It overheats in Photoshop? That's not right. Did you overclock something too much? I mean, unless you had a mighty shitty fan, there's no way a decent comp'd get overheated that way.

Also take a good look at your tower: a lot of towers offer crappy ventilation. If you're getting a high-power PC you need atleast a side or top ventilation fan on top of ones in the front and back. Getting a bigger tower means more cooling, too, because it increases air flow. :')

Ever try a card fan? Plug that under your video card in any PCI slot. It keeps mine about 5 degrees Celsius cooler than without it, and that makes a big diff on laborious, high-end games, or video editing.

My computer loves to give me an attitude, by not freezing , not locking up, not crashing or anything like that. it just gets in 'moods' where it just flat out doesnt open something. Ill click on it and the hourglass will come up but after 15sec it goes away and the normal cursor comes up without opening the program.

THAT DRIVES ME INSANE!!!

And AIM 6 bends my computer over when im on the internet anymore too.:s

I don't know, I've had my computer for a good three years now. Not once have I gotten any major viruses, blue screens, crashes or anything of the sort. The only problems I've ever had are with my stupid M-AUDIO Delta card which I don't recommend for any composers out there.
