Grand Theft Auto IV

I'm a fairly strict gamer lately, because of time constraints.  Typically only play RPG's that really pull my interest, maybe a FPS here and there..and possible something else if deemed good enough, and I never really got into any of the past GTA games, and I bought GTA4, that should tell you something.  It's not perfect, but it sure is damn fun.

It's a very different game to the last ones. Different enough that I'd call it more like the transition of game-play from 2->3 than anything else.

Cars handle much more realistically, there are moral choices, the enviroment is much more realistic, in fact the whole game is much more realistic. None of the stupid crap there was in San Andreas.

Plus the missions are actually interesting.

btw - I don't know what you're talking about with the cover system - I have a 360 and it's no problem to use it, you just need to get used to the control system thats all. It's not a twitch shooter by any means.

I've concluded that multiplayer is boring as hell.

No, I'm not shit, I won every game I played, the reason it doesn't translate well to multiplayer is because of a few reasons.  The gameplay itself is sort of a jack of all trades, master of none thing so when it boils down to just gameplay it's not so good.  Also the blips of each character basically make it a race to reach the blips.  I know they can be turned off but the playing areas are too big without any sort of help.  It also lacked any sort of atmosphere of playing with real people like Call of Duty creates.

No, the cover system is seriously garbage.  It's actually more effecient to simply crouch and shoot in the direction of your enemies (they duck regardless of where you fire).  The fact of the matter is, if you're back is against a wall then the reticule LOCKS in one direction.  If enemies are coming in from your sides, it literally takes 1-2 seconds of holding down the right analog stick before the reticule unsticks and then it instantly jerks out of control.

Well GTA4 is currently fucked for me and it seems many others.  A word of warning... I'd advise you not to try and play GTA4 online.  Don't take my word for it... http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=136545

It's been out less than a week and already a thread with 620 replies complaining of constant freezing and since I tried online 2 nights ago, I can no longer load my game either... If i do it crashes within 20 seconds of gameplay.  Many say this happened the time after they tried online like me.  For some disconnecting the console from the net fixes it, for others it doesn't seem to.

This issue regards both consoles, so beware.

First game that makes me seriously regret not having a 360 or PS3. Ridiculously amount of good reviews, all my mates are talking it up and I've been looking forward to it for ages. No fun!
