[Full Game] Lucid Awakening

I recently beat your game. I know it took me a while, seeing as I was talking about it quite some time ago, if you recall.

I think I collected every monster drop item but I may have missed a few items in the final dungeon. That was fun.

The game was extremely easy, however, except for the Golem and final boss 2nd form, I never had anything even approaching trouble. That's not to say it wasn't fun of course.

I liked the way armor was done with those gems. They were a little confusing but it was fun to optimize. All in all I'd say this game's strongest suit is it's storyline. Graphics were either mediocre, good, or wtf (such as panorama errors and that weird beach city map areas.) Mostly average or better than average, the graphics quality drastically improved as time went on.

Gameplay was good for the most part, though most monster battles were just button mashing for me, monsters were easy to avoid and dungeons were spacious and had interesting puzzles. I almost quit while playing that desert dungeon. GOD DAMN THAT FALL DOWN ROOM TO THE DEEPEST LAYERS OF TARTARUS!

Cutscenes were also well done, they seemed to seamlessly turn from gameplay into cutscenes during times when you did not expect it. The little cutscene bars were a nice touch to make this transition not surprise and annoy the player however. I liked that.

Good game. I recommend playing this if you're feeling bored. You can probably beat it all in a day if you have the whole day free, as I took a total time of about 6-7 hours, and I probably took longer than most due to my wanting to fight every monster.

Thank you for using visible encounter.

Just beat this game in just over 8 hours. I'm pretty sure that I missed some stuff as I was going through the game
(I only got 5 Strahl Coins! and only found 2 Lucid gems!)
but I really enjoyed it. Now, for the full review broken down into sections:

Gameplay:(5/10)

In my honest oppinion, the gameplay was a little bit on the easy side. I really had no problems with most of the monster and boss fights.
In fact, the only Bosses that gave me any trouble at all were the Desert temple gate guardian and the final boss' second form
.

Having said that, the puzzles increased in difficulty at a balanced and well planned rate with the toughest probably being the Desert Temple.
I cheated for this one and wrote down the directions to get both chests, the switch and to the exit using the cheat sheet in the room below. - A very nice addition.

Another plus to the gameplay was the unique armour setup with the crystals. The way they were explained was magnificent and it was nice to see something new. Great imagination with that one.

However, the 5 must stand as for the most part, it was a hack and slash your way to the objectives game with very little planning needed.

Storyline:(9/10)

The Storyline has to be the strongest point of Lucid awakening. From the very start you are drawn into the game and it quickly becomes addictive just trying to get more of the story. The use of cutscenes that blend almost seemlessly with the gameplay and at times, moreoften than not where you'd least expect it is nothing short of genious. It shows that a lot of time an d effort went into the story line.

The cutscenes are used to move the story along and provide the player with the information he/she requires to complete the next task. Although they can sometimes be quite long, the way in which they are written and the information they dilvuldge keeps the player from rapidly skipping through by pressing the action key. To do so would probably spoil both the story and the fun.

Graphics:(7/10)

For the most part, the Graphics are spectacular. Every environment is well caterd to and a lot of development time went into the mapping (this along with the story might explain why the monster encounters become very easy). There are a few anomalies when you are out exploring and some areas can become repetitive but overall, everything is where it should be and together all the maps produce a sense epicness in a small package.

Music:(9/10)

There isn't much I can say about the music except that its great. The different BGM's really add to the feeling of the game and in some of the key fights really adds a sense of urgency to the situation.

Overall:(7.5/10)

A well balanced game which will have you glued to your computer for at least 7 hours!

Omg I haven't checked this in forever cuz I thought no one cared lolz.

I remember you EricHermit ^_^. Thank you so much for the review...I love when people post detailed reviews it makes me happy lol.

Thank you very much AFFP!! I love your review. And your score is really fair...I didn't like the gameplay too much either lol. My mapping was also pretty bad...but it WAS my first real game and I think you could see the evolution of my skills as you played throughout.

@Noob: Maybe it's cuz you're using Vista :P

No it is not as I can play both XP and VX games made in the software. Yours is the only one giving me trouble. Not to mention one of the screen shots has Jap. Language on it....What English version would do that....Knights Edition...

Hmmm. It's showing up on my computer like that, too, and I don't have vista. I don't think it's knights, but something odd is happening.

I remember when I first downloaded the game, the instructions for where to put the files were in Japanese which I thought odd. I never had the game crash though, but I didn't end up finishing it so it could have happened at a part I didn't get to. Or it's just your computer :p

This is the best game I've played so far. It isn't hard to figure out where to go and the story is interesting and keeps me playing.
It's not hard like a lot of the games I've played and abandoned (abandoned because of the fact it was too hard).

Good job . I hope to see many more games from you in the future!

Uhh... it doesn't seem to work, when the opening screen is up there's no text on the menu and when I start the game all I get is nice background music and a black screen

@Befrazzled: Thank you very much ^_^

Hmm Ilocar yeah put the font in the C\Windows\Fonts folder and it should "install" the font. Then restart your computer and try it again. It should work then!

Thanks guys! Ha ufalama, is that a legal score? Can I like put that in reviews for my game? Lol. Where are you stuck? Tell me where you're stuck and I'll try to help you out or maybe someone else can.

@Bubble-Toes: Thanks! Tell me what you think!

Hey guys...just so you know, there's a pretty big announcement relating to Lucid Awakening. It's actually somewhere on these forums...I don't think you'll find it easily. I'm not going to spoil it...I'll make you look for it >=)

No, i aint stuck at a puzzle, but at the boss, his healing is so anoying, and i never get a chance to attack him cause i like always must use potions.

What level do you suggest me to be?
And what party members?
