I wanted to let you know that I've been following this game closely. I love the old-school feeling of the graphics. The logo looks wonderful as well. I am definitely going to play this when you finally release it. xD Sorry I couldn't say more that what's already been said. :)

Alright, well here's the mp3ed version of "The Air", the 3rd track I've created for Essence. The MIDI file is going to be used for the actual game, so this is more of an extra....

In a week or two I'll have a song to upload to my youtube account called "Turquoise Skies" which was used as a mock-up for the first trailer. After it's orchestrated, I think it would work great for a trailer, as it has a bright blue sky feeling, as opposed to the usual dark stereotypical hollywood french horns with choirs movie trailer type of music.

Another update to the music. This is a song I call the "Suite of Essence". It came out pretty epic, methinks.

Those sound tracks sound pretty fantastic, especially the last one posted. And those are MIDI's? Very impressive. How do you guys make your soundtracks?

These will be midis =) well they already are... but that last one... which we will probably turn into midi just for the music player. Treaken Impulse and Shizu use Reason 4 I think... I can't really explain it. Treaken is my main music composer and Mark is just freelancing XP. Impulse... well he's a way different story.

I use Reason 4 for composing coupled with GPO lite, but the trick is playing it through my keyboard instead of punching it in note by note. The Air is actually notated in midi, then converted to MP3 via samples, while the newer one use many less tracks "Strings" "Brass" "Woodwinds" "Percussion" "Timpani" and "Timpani Roll" with a few other tracks here and there (like the Choirs).

On another note....

What the hell is this guy supposed to be doing > :fap:

I suppose it's time to introduce myself a little better haha. I'm Jonatan, aka Treaken, current main composer of Final Fantasy Essence. While I might not be extremely awesome at what I do, I still love composing and think I can contribute with some decent tunes to this great project :). Basically what I wanna do is to show you a small preview of a track I finished earlier today, to give you an idea of what to expect from the OST (well, my part of the OST that is :P). This one's called 'Roses' and is the theme for the character Keira!

[brag]Also, the piano was recorded live by me [/brag]

Enjoy, and use headphones for a great listening experience :).

I think those are VERY Final Fantasy and are wonderful. I especially like the wind instrument, is it just a flute? Almost sounds like a pan flute.

New teaser-trailer =P Also updated screenshots. The music in the trailer is the world map theme by Treaken/Jonatan ^_^

Wow Celes, this looks really top notch. The mapping is pretty great for the cities and the world map theme definitely sounds like something out of a Final Fantasy, particularly IX, which makes it that much better. I'd love to see some gameplay trailers because this has actually gotten me curious to play, something that happens rarely with fan-games. Keep up the good work!
