Remake everything but FFVII... I'm getting pissed! Two prequals, two sequals, but no remake?! REMAKE FF7!! Thats the only FF i want remade ;_; (just because all the prequals and sequals are making how bad its graphics look worst and worst @_@)

Wasn't there some hype over an FF7 remake a while ago for the PS3? I'm pretty sure Square sealed the deal and they're doing it. And it's going to visually look really good.

No... they said nothing about a FFVII remake. That was all rumored. Can't believe people go "OMG FFVII ReMAKE!!11!" to a tech demo when no one went "OMG FFVI REMAKE FOR N64zz!!" the tech for N64 and "OMGZZZZZZZZZZ FFVIII REMAKE!!!!" The tech demo for Ps2.

Oh well. I will probably get this if I ever do own a PSP. I have a DS and might just get DoS. I think it sounds more reliable... looks like it too.

Square, how I hate what you've become. -_-

Honestly, how do better graphics make this any different than the umpteen different copies of the same exact game you already own? Why would you waste your money on this when you could buy a game you haven't played before?
I can pretty much hear you, but for people like me who haven't played the games yet, it's a nice addition... well, it would be, as people like me don't have a PSP ^_^

For the remake thing only, I can second you... remakes are evil most of the time, and their only purpose is to make money without efford... a company like Square shouldn't need to do this, at least not as often as they do it with FF 1&2...

I really do not have the money for a GBA, or a DS. So I really appreciate Square-Enix for releasing these two games on the PSP (which I do have).

The president of Square stated that with the public demand for a FFVII remake it would be silly if they didn't remake it. I don't have a link to the article, but it was all over the place for a while.

Basic deduction? They're making a million spinoffs of FF7 and remaking EVERY OTHER GAME UP TO FF7 including FF tactics. What's really silly is that people like you still think they're not doing it. Its quite obviously their "april surprise".

Yeah, once they said they were announcing something new in the FF7 compilation basically everyone knew what they were talking about.

I'm stoked :D

The PSX of FF4-6 and the GBA of 4-6 are crap. Either Loading times or the world map lags (Hello FFVI.). Plus the ending of FFVI is off by like.. alot. The music stops like right after you see Figaro.

Edit: Also, the reason FF1-6 gets ports and FF7 doesn't is because that FF1-6 doesn't get enough attention now. And people who never played them are surly to get them, which rakes in money. So FF1-6 are just money bringers.

Your logic is astounding. They're remaking games because they didnt get enough attention? This is why they're only remaking games in the best known game franchise ever. FF5 advance had bad loading times and FF6 Advance(which isnt even out yet) sucked? OK dude... *laughs out of thread*

I was reading up on the Final Fantasy VII Compilation and some other articles regarding the Ivalice Alliance and it is pretty clear why SquareEnix is focusing on remakes for updated systems, and cross-consoles. Square has adopted a policy they call 'polymorphic content' which is their title for maximizing exposure to titles by putting them in a variety of formats.

With Final Fantasy VII, and XII/Tactics, it is easier for them to create this polymorphic content by creating sequels, prequels, and spinoffs. However with the old games (read: Final Fantasy I-VI or Pre-PSX) the option for sequels and sidestories is pretty limited.

Personally, the only one I think that even comes close to allowing for a sidestory is Final Fantasy VI, and that's really pushing it.

The best example of this of course is Final Fantasy XII, which has a sequel being released for the Nintendo DS, allowing for non-Playstation owners to enjoy the title, and experience the storyline and gameplay. It's changed enough to allow for already-hooked fans to want to play it, but allows for people who aren't familiar with the PS2 title to experience it, and perhaps lead them to buy the original. Final Fantasy XIII is also following suit. There are three (or four I've heard) titles, each completely separate regarding character and plot, but similar enough to fall under the same game. I also believe each is being produced for a different system (360, PS3, and Wii/DS most likely. )

The game IS out. The game HAS been out. Probably not in America but in Japan, yes. And I do own it. And I have beaten it.

Edit: Nvm Didn't see Prexus's post.

Final Fantasy V didn't suffer from poor loading times or lag, actually. Compared to FFIV and FFVI it is the best port. FFIV had that terrible ATB problem in the American and Japanese releases (enemies and players would often act outside of turn or before the ATB filled at seemingly random times).

So far though, Final Fantasy VI's port looks to be the most displeasing. The sounds are directly ported from the SNES or PSX version, both which utilizing stereophonic sound. The Game Boy Advance however has a monophonic speaker and it wasn't properly translated for the hardware. The lag regarding multiple party instances (Moogle Cave, Defending the Esper, and the Pheonix Cave) has almost no bearing other than not optimizing for the hardware, and the same goes for the Mode7 instances (World Map, Airship, Chocobo, Undersea Waterway, etc.)

It was an oversight that they didn't take into account, but really should have noticed.

They at least fixed the Evasion% bug which was apparent in the SNES and PSX releases, so that and the bonus features are enough to play the game. My suggestion is buy it, and if the lag is so terrible, you can always use the Speed feature on an emulator.

This is more a port then a remake... they just smoothed out and shaded the sprites.

If Square is going to keep churning out this garbage, they should literally REMAKE them. As in, new systems, total game redesign, etc. Rebuild it from the game up, add everything that was there, make it better, and then add much, much more. If Square is allowed to get away with stuff like this(which looks almost exactly like an RPG maker game), then they'll keep making crap like this.

geeze, this aint right. this just aint right.
FF1 (NES)
FF1 (MSX 2) [Japan Only]
FF1 (Wonderswan Color)
FF1 on FFOrigins (PSX)
FF1 (Mobile) [Japan Only)
FF1 on Dawn of Souls (GBA)

and now on PSP.
it's definately not worth it, they should have done a damn remake not another "enhanced" port

FFXIII series is being developed mainly for the PS3, with Agito being the only exception; a cellphone game. XIII and Versus XIII are both being developed as exclusives, so far, on the PS3. I know this because ALL they talk about is 'because of the power of the PS3 we can do...' in almost every article i've seen, haha. I heard there was to be a fourth; but no clue on what it is. Those three are all the talk right now anyways.

I personally hate it, though, that the sequal to FFXII is coming to the DS only. I got nothing against Nintendo, but 12 was created for the PS2, and I would like a chance to actually play its sequal since it desperately needed one >< at least do crossplatform! XD
