BackGround -
The planet of Mira has been in a relatively peaceful time for the last couple decades, with society developing and enhancing quicker than any other time in the history of the young planet. The planet consists of three distinct continents, who have been relatively separated for century's, although at one travel was possible. More recently, travel has been made possible through more sophisticated sea bearing ships, allowing explorers and researchers to have a go at previously unexplored areas. Each continent has vastly different society's, and this is fully represented by the people what make these society's up. People are no longer fighting, times are peaceful and there are enough jobs for most.

Towns
---------

Imgrad - One of the major continents what make up Mira, Imgrad is one of the healthier places to live, with many different towns, and a diverse work force. Imgrad has been in a time of peace for over 1000 years.

Cyrus - A small mining village, and hometown of a young man, Seth. Cyrus has long been a mining town, and exports different kinds of metals across the whole world. This is made possible with the cross-continental railroad that passes almost right through Cyrus. With the small town feel, many adults move here to raise they're children, or to get a job.

Telira - A moderately sized town, residing on the coast of the Lucia Ocean, Telira is a major port for all of Imgrad. Goods from Cyrus and Phalanx are brought here to be shipped across the ocean, thus providing many of jobs to sailors. Telira is also a major producer of anything fish related. Some of the best fish from across the globe is caught in Telira. Telira is still a relatively young town, compared to many others in Imgrad.

Phalanx -  Phalanx, being the capital of Imgrad, is one of the largest city's across the globe. Phalanx is where the king of Ingram resides, although the "King" is just a title now, and the king does not actually have a lot of power. Phalanx is where men who wish to become soldiers go to train, and many leave phalanx once their training is complete. The cross-continental railroad also makes a stop at Phalanx, mostly to deliver goods produced elsewhere. Phalanx is made up of separate districts. There is the upper district, which is where the rich preside. Then there is the lower district, which is ridden with poverty. There is also a smaller district just outside the city walls, where some businesses reside.

Hikyl - A town also on the continent of Imgrad, Hikyl is located near a very large mountain, and is inhibited by local tribes. They are not very advanced, but do not take that for dumb, for that they are not. They are a simple people, yet you don't want to get on their bad side. They are not very friendly to outsiders.


Eudora - Another continent on the planet Mira, Eudora is located to the south east of Imgrad. Eudora is not like Imgrad at all, in fact is more different than similar. Strange races and beings have managed to survive the ages of time here, and Eudora is mostly jungle, with a couple large citys spread across the continent. This land mass is slightly larger than Imgrad. Eudroa is controlled by a very strict, very tight heiarchal government.

Resnik - A moderatly sized town, that is located on the side of a volcano. The people that live here live to be very old. Some say the volcano has magical property's, other say there is a special fruit that the Resniks eat, which stimulates older age. Who really knows though?


Tarvos - The northern most continent, located near the pole, Tarvos is mostly a snow ridden land, with alot of the  land covered in perma-frost.  There are a few small towns scattered throughout the land.

Iopa - A small village located near the south of Tarvos, Iopa is a very cold town, but use the weather to the'yre advantage.  Villagers in Iopa love to play sports, and do lots of activities.  Some even go ice fishing! Iopa has large oil reserves, and that primarily how they make an income as a society.

Story
-------

You come from a small mining village, Cyrus, where your father moved to after he left the royal military. By trade he is now an archaeologist, and has been working on uncovering some new ruin sites from ancient cultures. After you drop your dad off at the local port, you go home and go to sleep. You awaken during the middle of the night, to an earthquake. An quake is very rare in his region of the globe, so you go to make sure your mother and sister are okay. They are both fine, so everybody decides to go back to sleep. When you wakes up in the morning, you finds yourselfself unusually untired, seeing as you woke up before the sun came up. Second later, your little sister comes in and says that she can't sleep. You finds this odd, and goes to talk to your mother, whom isn't home. When you go outside, half of the town is awake and utterly confused.  The sun never rose.  A few people in the town never went to sleep after the quake, and realized that the sun shoud've rose by this time. What adverse effects will this have on people?  What about on the world? The animals? What will happen if the sun never rises again?  How will people live? See what happens when a world must adapt and change to an ever changing surrounding. What will happen in the darkness? What sort of creatures lurk in the darkness, and do you really want to know?

Battle System Features
-----------------------

We have written the battle system from the ground up, and everything is written specifically for this battle system, except minkoffs animated battlers, which has been slightly edited.

The battle system is going to use special items called Orbs (That is a tentative name). These items will be gainedfrom monsters. With them, you can go to a shop and buy a new skill. Skills are character specific, and can't be shared. There will be many familiar skills, and many new skills you may have never seen before.

Your skills will also feature a leveling system. Every skill in the game will start out a level 1.  Every time you use a skill the bar will increase.  When the skills levels up, it will gain a small increase in effect.  Its nothing nothing major, but it is a small increase, and rewards you for using your skills.

We have added alot of special types of skills that aren't present in the default battle system. Some of these include a skill for counter attack. A skill for auto heal(Regen), and alot more ill leave for you to find about about.

Also,  there are different tpyes of enemies. If an enemy is a flying creature, chances are you want be able to run up and attack him with your sword. You may have to find a different approach for these types of enemies.

The battle uses a system similar to the Limit Break system, popularized by the final fantasy games, although ours is also written from scratch, and its a bit different than the LB system. Our system is called RAGE. Once a player has been hit enough times, or hits the enemy enough times, or a combination, he goes into a state of rage. He becomes more agile,a bit stronger, and overall becomes better at fighting. A character is also now allows to use RAGE only skills, which are much more powerfull than regular skills. Once a RAGE skill has been used, the character returns to a normal state. So, do you stay in a state of RAGE, or take it out on the poor sucker standing infront of you?

Weapons in the game are socketed. You are allowed to put different types of shards into the weapons. This system is also totally written from the ground up, and we have rewritten many of the default scripts to allow this system. There are a couple different types of shards, from stat shards, to element shards, to state shards. Stats shards will boost up your stats, what a suprise. A health shard may boost up your health 5%, maybe even as much as 25%. Element shards will defend your character against the elements enemys present you with, such as fire, ice, and wind. State shards are my favorite, and by far the most valuable shards a player may collect. The shards maybe speed your character up, or your charcter may heal every turn. Maybe a shard will allow you to counter attack, or sorround you with spikes, that return damage to an enemy.  The possibilites are limitless. Once socketed into a sword, the shards cannot be taken out one at a time. All the shards must come out togethor, so make sure you put in a shard you need. Thanks Zeph for this system, as it is truly unique.

Items are also randomly dropped from monster, and with how many sockets a certain item will have. This allows for countless character designs, and many players characters will end up different.

I am Dedicating the next Month,3 Months, 6 Months, Year, 2 Year, Or whatever it takes to get this game done and make it fill out to my Vision. I have had it in my head for about 7 years. I am 22 years old, and have been using rpg maker since the 95 version.  I recently got back into it, and am going full force ahead this time.  I know what im doing, what im capable of, and have a vision. The only problem is, right now it is a 3 Man team. If you would like to help, Pm me and we can talk.
 
I agree, nice graphics.

The plot needs some work. Nothing really "stands out" right now, you know? Familiar "awakens with no memories, but a lot of crap happened in the past" story it seems, though I could be wrong.

If I may ask, where did you get some of those tilesets? I noticed you were using some of Inq's tileset (the medieval towns one), and was wondering if those others were made by Inq, since they seem to go with the tileset.
 
I agree, with the plot thing. It tends to sound like every other game, but the thing is its kinda supposed to. That is the kind of game I want. It doesnt follow exact storys though, it is unique and original. As for the tilesets, the whole game will use non rtp, by the time i am finished. Hopefully a Demo will be coming soon.

The screens look lovely, Thirdstrike, you made excellent use of those tilesets. You should definitely think about modifying some aspects of your characters and story, though, as others have said. Oh, this is a little off-topic, though, have you gotten that UMS to show text yet? Aaaaaaaarr!:yes:
 
The graphics do look nice. However, even though you intended for the story to sound typical, your game doesn't exactly make me think, "Ooh, I can't wait for a demo". There's nothing for me to hook onto that makes me want to play the game. It's possible to make a game seem cliche yet make someone want to play it, but you haven't really succeeded at that here.

Also, Tana took her site down for a reason -- she no longer wanted her resources distributed. Therefore, I'd advise that the links to her resources be removed.
 
Sorry I didn't know they were here OR she wanted them down, they can be removed by a mod or something as I cant. Since a demo wont be out for a couple weeks, maybe a bit sooner, I've been trying to post new pictures often so check back. And wow, thank you for the compliments, I take pride in my work and it makes me feel good when people respond positively. And trust me, I am putting just as much time into the story/characters as I am the graphics. I haven't released much info on the story yet, because I don't think at this point it is necessary. Maybe soon I will. I'm not sure yet. Ill keep you guys posted. Keep the comments coming, I love to get feedback. One more picture was added, of a house, In the town of Cyrus. Haven't added people yet :)
 
I have taken what you all said to heart, and have decided to change the story of the game. It still has the same setting, as in the world will be the same, but i asked around, talked to people, and came up with a creative original story. This wont take too long to implement into the new game. I haven't cam up with a new title yet. I have also added a customized side view battle system. (YAY!) I also added some option if your computer can handle them, such as shadows, reflections and lots more, if your computer cant handle them, you can always turn them off. This of course wasn't all dont by me, and i will give credit where due.I will release more information about the new story tomorrow. I expect a demo out sooner than later, even though I am changing the story. I dont know if i should start a new thread or keep this one though? Any suggestions on that?
 
Okay, check the first page now, I will add new screen shots tomorrow as it is very late, and ive been working on this all night. I will also add new character information. I guess the reason I wanted that story was becuase i thought of it when I was a little kid and it held a special place in my heart, but i was reading something and realized, i can't live in the past, I am alot older, and my ideas/thought now are alot better, so i decided to do what you all said and update it into the future and not the past. I hope this is a good idea. Let me know what you guys think about the new story.
 
The game is coming along wonderfully, I added a new picture of the battle system as is, and added a couple more pics just for the hell of it. A demo should be in the short future. Let me know what you think guys!
