I find it a little funny that a lot of the members are saying they're fine with the status quo as it is, while it's the staff who are debating in favour of subverting their own power for two weeks (in fact, I take it as a huge compliment -- assuming I'm not reading too much into things, you guys can be really sweet sometimes, you know that?) Honestly, I still wanna do this because I'm curious as to how the system might work out in the end, but it seems like I might have to deal with observing a minor reorganization instead of a dynamically different staff roster. :P

Go wild, guys! If you think someone would do a better job in a certain staff position than an existing staff member, don't hesitate to bump them down. No one's assigning pluses or minuses based on votes here, I promise.

You're technically imposing Eudaimonia (rather than Democracy) by allowing votes for those whom aren't even stepping up as candidates.

Of course, whilst this is an ideal system, it is far ~too~ ideal for us petty humans, except in communities that are tiny enough for everyone to know everyone. In the larger scale, its the sort of administration system that can only really work either:
A) after many years of proper socialism (~not~ communist republics like the ex-soviet and chinese),
or B) if everyone is linked by mind stapling (!)
or C) people actually go and develop psionic powers like all the sci-fi would love to have you believe

Nuances of political theory aside, I guess it will still be intreguing to see what happens. Though most likely it'll either cause havoc or change nothing. Like most revolutions then, lol.

I had a couple of laughs at the numerous "let only [...] people vote!"... very democratic. (while I agree with the restrictions on voting in the first post... ah well)
I also laughed about the 'View Forum Staff' function no longer working :p

Can't you just ban those people who create multiple accounts?

Of course, but a poll is anonymous, so we wouldn't be able to catch them easily.

I dunno about that... most forum softwares have submenues to check who voted for what in what poll, so while it'd be tedious, it'd be possible...


@eharper: Eudaimonia is way off of that idea really... plus, there are multiple forms of democracy, but all of them are supposed to include something that should translate to 'active right to vote', meaning everyone's allowed to vote, regardless of the circumstances - for example, if he or she is going to accept their elected position.
