Dissidia: Final Fantasy; FFXII International

I seriously doubt it will be coming to the PS2 and especially not the Wii. This is SE we're talking about. They dont like to bring a game out more than once... unless, say, its FF1-6. Then they'll spam us with remakes for almost every console... *sniff* KH2:FM+, WHY?! WHY NO AMERICAN RELEASE?!

I was going to post up that trailer if no one else did ^_~

Kickass. I cant wait for this game! My PSP is dying for some kickass games! Luckily Tales of the World is coming out in a month!

It's official that Larsa and Vossler in FFXII:International are playable characters, in that you can set their gambits and change their equipment and manipulate their License Boards.. No word on what happens about them storyline wise though since

Vossler Dies!

Actually, Zidane is a major step up for Nomura; He isn't COMPLETELY covered in belts or zippers, and he's wearing a color other than black. I'm impressed.

I know what you mean. I was pleasantly suprised when I found out Nomura didn't ruin Zidane THAT much (I still think there's something....off. But meh, it's still pretty good.)

*sigh* Not one of of you can start a thread without filling it up with insults, can you? OK, first off...

its going to be better then the oringal, but not going to make a bad game turn good.
As a gamer, I would have thought you'd realized there's no such thing as a bad game. Just like the rest of you, I've played hundreds of games, and I never found one that wasn't fun. I speak for gamers everywhere when I say you should be ashamed of yourself.

Secondly, I'm sick of everyone stereotyping Nomura with this lie that he draws every single character in black with tons of belts. He only freakin' did that with Sora and Sephiroth, people! Every other character looks perfectly normal. I ENVY his art technique. Besides, if anyone needs to be stereotyped, it's Amano; him and his obsession with white/blonde characters, and giving everyone the same exact face. Not insulting him, the art is still inexcusably detailed, but still.

(Besides, I think black with tons of belts is cool, and I've incorporated it into some of my characters, as well).

But, anyway...

Originally, my primary purpose for wanting a PSP was to play Before Crisis. Now, Dissidia is. I can't wait. Besides, can you imagine? Zidane and Kuja probably have specials that let them go into Trance mode! Dissidia's gonna be like Ehrgeiz, only without the crappy characters and 10000000000000000000000000000x better.

P.S. In lieu of what I previously stated, I like every one of the Final Fantasy games. EVERY-ONE. They are perfect, and before anyone tries to say ANYTHING bad about ANY of them, let's see THEM make a better game, first.

How were we insulting anyone? WHO are we insulting? You? Nomura?

Oh, and about the belts and zippers thing, look at Pete, Mickey, Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Vivi, Leon, Yuffie, Cloud, all the ORG. XIII members, and Setzer. SETZER.
Every single one of these characters has an extra zipper, belt, or scarf where they don't need it. It makes no sense.

I do not recall seeing zippers on more than 1/3 of those characters, belts on more than 2/5 of those characters, and I only see a white scarf on Setzer, which he already had in FF6.

Man, here I am thnking the world was trying to END stereotypes, but no....

Pwnt.

And yes, bringing up Lulu basically destroys any argument Sephiroth could ever come up with. Now Amano, on the other hand, just has an art style that can really result in unique characters.

I'd daresay that we should be getting back on topic. (also seph before crisis is the japanese cell phone final fantasy VII, you're thinking of Crisis Core I think.)

Crisis Core? I thought that was just the Japanese name for the anime movie "Last Order"?

@Dopples: OKAY. I was wrong. But nonetheless, why is that a bad thing? Zippers and belts are cool.

Back on topic: If Dissidia uses the main two characters of FFs 1-12 or whatever, and most of the villains don't even use weapons, how do they fight? Also, do you think Dissidia will have its own storyline, like Kingdom Hearts?

Before Crisis is the for the cell, Crisis Core is for the PSP, and the Last Order is the american name and the Japanese name of the anime movie.

Anyways, I agree, belts and zippers rock. If you think about it, Kingdom Hearts is the only series where Nomura really went all out on belts and zippers. FF7 really didnt have any unneeded ones i could think of... FF8, Squall was really the only one. I cant think of many on FF10... Even Advent Children wasnt THAT packed on them. Just a few really. I think it was just KH style to have zippers and belts. And they made the characters a million times cooler looking at that.

Anyways, I think they have said that it will have its own story line. What kind, I cant recall at the moment...

I don't see how belts on your forearm is cool....I dunno. Back in the day, for protection, people used arm guard. Made of metal.

How can you not remember Lulu's dress? Isn't that a little... excessive? Wakka also wore more belts than are necessary. Tidus has no fewer than six zippers, maybe four of which could actually do anything necessary.I don't care if the main character wears one, maybe even two belts, as long as they're around his waist. Also, zippers should be entirely functional. All of those characters in that picture have no more than one zipper that appears to do anything. The rest are just frivolous.

1) Lulu looks goth like, the belts to the bottom of her dress really add a uniqueness to that look. Which is awesome.
2) I am looking at a picture of Wakka and i dont see a single belt... or zipper...
3) Tidus has 4 zippers. One for his shirt, makes sense. Three more on his shorts. ALSO makes sense. I have cargo pants that zip off the bottom to turn into shorts! So, obviously, they originally probably had legs attached to them to make them pants. Not over exessive, just kind of odd looking (if he had both sides of the shorts the same length, it wouldnt look odd)

So, really, Lulu is the only one wearing excessive unnessassary stuff. But at least it makes her look UNIQUE.

Who cares if it makes sense? It NOT making sense is what makes it look AWESOME. I hate boring, average, same old stuff. I like a new twist! And, obviously a majority of fans love it too since they just love Nomura's art work. I envy how much detail he can put in a character. It takes a creative mind to do all that stuff!

ZnY is like, my best friend here now. Everything he says is right. I mean, if the designs of all characters followed a strict style system, there'd be no more new ideas. Everything would get boring, fast. Personally, I love coming up with new clothing designs, and I don't care if they don't make sense. I mean, look at, like, EVERY Final Fantasy character that wears ONE shoulder-pad. Does that make sense? No, but it's still cool. Imagine how plain Cloud would look if he was perfectly symmetrical.

Furthermore, I don't even know how we got into this inane discussion. Nomura didn't change the characters at all. He redesigned Zidane's dags, but that's it.

WAit, so you're saying that sticking every goddamn character in black and covering him in belts and zippers is the path to making new and exciting new character designs? No, my friend, that's how you make the same exact design several times with a few variations each time.

Take a look at Amano's main characters. The heroes of FF1, Firion, Cecil, Bartz, Locke, and Zidane. Notice how they're all completely different from each other. Only Locke and Zidane even look remotely alike.

Now take a look at Nomura's. Cloud, Squall, Tidus, all of them have a wide abundance of zippers and belts. The only one of the three wearing a color other than black is Tidus, but he makes up for that with Lulu in FF10 and Paine in FF10-2. You can also look at some of his other characters: Cid Highwind (Wears exclusively black and brown, basically,) Vincent (Mostly black with a red cape thing,) Sephiroth (Again, more belts than necessary and too many zippers, wearing mostly black,) and almost every character he's ever re-designed, who are almost always just donned in black and given a minimum of two more belts and usually a frivolous zipper or two.

Who said to take every character and do that? Where would the contrast be? Ah, so silly you are to jump to conclusions. Nomura is no different than any other artist, not all of his characters are covered in belts and zippers and wearing black. Obviously you turn a blind eye or just can't admit to be wrong. Kingdom Hearts is the only game in which characters were covered in those things you mentioned; at least, the only one I am aware of. And again, I feel that that was just a theme in KH.

The similarities between Cloud, Squall and Tidus are few and far apart and almost impossible to tell. But you should know, a character designer’s characters will often times look similar to one another. That’s their style, of course. Now, lets take a look at Amano. Have you noticed that all his original sketches just about never look like the one they put in the game? Not only that, but his art is so abstract that its not even appealing to look at on a game character.

And let us go into this: Cloud has no belts or zippers and doesn’t wear black. Well, maybe a belt. The original Cloud, that is, for FF7, wore one belt, around his waist; like normal people? And his outfit was PURPLE. Now, take a look at his remake for Advent Children. Only parts of it are black, the shirt itself is a dark blue/purple color, again. Purple = royalty. It also fits well with his blonde hair and blue eyes.

Squall: He was an 'emo' and 'angsty' character. I think its only NATURAL he dressed in black and had belts. Its called dressing the character how their personality is. Besides, he has 3 belts on his thigh and three on his waist; one that does make sense. It doesn’t even look like a lot!

Tidus: Again, he had 4 zippers! ALL THAT MAKE SENSE! Just his outfit looked kinda weird, so it doesn’t appear so right away, but if you think about it, they do make sense.

Cid, well he wears an outfit that looks like it belongs on an armature pilot (Blue, white and brown). Sephiroth wears black and has gray hair; bad guys wear black anyone. Oh, and too many belts and zippers? He has like... two belts and NO zippers. Do you even LOOK at these characters before you sprout things or just naturally assume they have them because they are Nomura's creation?? Vincent is supposed to be DEAD and has DEMONS in him; he is almost like a vampire! These outfits only seem to REFLECT the CHARACTER in some way. I really don’t see what you're talking about. Its almost as if you are making stuff out your butt or something.

Seriously, the way Nomura does things only adds uniqueness and originality to the characters. Its better than seeing all this over used crap I see everywhere. I like change. And its his art style. Everyone has a different art style and a way of dressing their characters. Square LOVED his designs and thus made him one of the main character designers; in fact, they said that he was best suited because his characters are animish and are easier to turn into CG models as apposed to Amano.
