Dissidia: Final Fantasy; FFXII International

@Mercutio: I'm pretty sure that armored fellow in the picture is the cover boy from the first Final Fantasy (remember the FMV from Origins?).

Yeah, from what I heard he is one of the 'Warriors of Light' from FF. If i heard right that is. Which would confirm what you said.

on FF12: I think the new license boards have something to do with this esper job class system. I've only seen a few screen shots but I think when you get a esper a new license board is unlocked. I don't know much about the "job class" part of it.

on Dissidia: I looked at some of the screen shots, it that Kuja in one of them? He looks a lot like Setzer in Kingdom Hearts

Haha, I thought it looked a lot like Setzer in KH as well. But then I remembered he would have lots of scars.

A new licence board for each esper? Are espers going to me more important and actually more mandatory this time around then? Werent there only like... a few that you actually got through the course of the game and the rest you had to go hunt for? Also... what do you use in the mean time, the old licence board? I am so confused on how this would work out @_@

I think the "Esper" License Boards give abilities to the Esper, as opposed to the player. Probably things like +HP, +MP, and the other Augmentation licenses.

EDIT: I'm wrong:

In the new version of XII, there are 12 different layouts of the license board based on different jobs you can give the characters, opening up a whole new level of complexity to add to the epic show-stopper.

The one new layout we managed to pick out of the refurbished trailer looked like a spinning dial of sorts. Which job that layout pertains to is anyone's guess. But from what we can glean in the details given, players can expect jobs like Monk, Red Mage and Uhlan to show up.

I'm always a bit wary of that. I mean, my PS2 has a solder-less modkit (haha, doesn't hurt the warrenty and isn't illegal) for playing imports, but I always figure the menus will be all japanese.

I don't even want to think about the gambit system in japanese!

Yeah, i believe its just like KH:FM. The movies are in English but everything else is in Japanese. Which is the one reason why i dont import KH2:FM+...

Why is Squeenix so paranoid about re-releasing what people actually WANT and not about releasing a billion sequals, in America?? Come on, they should know by now that people will buy whatever they put out there *cough*

The problem with re-releasing something a console game is, well, it's admitting fault. It's just like saying "Look, we've made some mistakes. Here is a fixed up version that adheres to what most reviewers and players felt was done poorly in the original."

Although they do call it FFXII: International Zodiac Job System (stupid name) so maybe there is a chance.. FFX International came out in America, did it not?

That aside, I do believe they previously released an FFVII international. An American release of XII: Int'l is not totally out of the question. Dissidia, maybe, but we can keep our fingers crossed for XII: Int'l, at least.

I believe FFX-2 was the first to have an International version made. And it was only released in Japan. They usually dont release these things in America... sadly enough...

And I'd say FFXII International stands less of a chance than Dissidia. Come on, even Square KNOWS that game will sell like hotcakes in America! How many FF fans do we have? How many loyal gamers who will buy anything? Not to mention a game where you get to partner up with your favorite characters from the FF series?! (I know I am not the only one who ONLY got KH when it first came out because it had my favorite characters in it. Its probably going to go like that and sell twice as many copies here than in Japan). At least, thats what I think.

Besides, think about it, from the ones I know... KH:FM, KH:FM+, FFX-2: International... and none have come to America... I say, unless its a remake of a 10 year old game (or at least was on a past system), the chances of us recieving it are significantly less than us recieving a brand new game. Especially for the PSP. Something that NEEDS more games.

BTB, what is this FF7 international you speak of?

There's been an international version of every FF since VII (Though I don't think VIII got one.) Most usually have new, unvoiced scenes, a new CG scene (Sometimes), and a hecka lot more battles.

It seems that Japanese people adore English voice acting.

I'm serious.

That's why the english versions go back.

They rarely make significant changes, only additions.

No game designer will ever claim everything he wanted to put in a game made it in. Ever. That's part of developing games.

Hey, it worked for Devil May Cry 3. Well, that, and the cheap price they released the Special Edition at.

Either way, I hold very little hope for any International/Final Mix/whathaveyou versions making it to the US. Which is a pity, because Square would make a shit load of money off the fan brats alone.

Dissidia really interests me though. I'm guessing that's the original Garland that the FF1 poster boy is fighting against in that one screen. And the thought of Kuja and Zidane like that... <3 <3 <3

See but Devil May Cry 3's special edition had a fabulous whole other character, which while not as deep as Dante, still developed, had a very barebones plot of his own (which didn't make sense with the gameplay at hand but was still there). The international versions of the final fantasies usually add like a couple boss fights. Like adding Ruby and Emerald to Final Fantasy VII (the original japanese version didn't have those I don't think). Oh and maybe a couple new weapons. And probably don't cost a fraction of the original.
