Be sad to see you go, you've helped me out a lot while you've been here.

Despain is a jerk, yes. But, he knows the program, he knows everyone on the forums, and he knows how to run a site. I don't agree with some of his methods, but it's quite easy to avoid him by not getting in his way (or not reading the posts that get in his way).

Necroposting? Well, bans probably aren't the way, but there was a big necroposting problem and people didn't listen, even when it warns you with red text (doesn't it?).

Sixty and Venetia becomming admins is a great move. Why? Because if Despain, Teloch, and Treg step out of line (which I doubt they will, because they care for this site) then there's someone there to give them a poke in the right direction.

As to the site nearing an end, people have been saying that for years and nothing has ever come of it. We're getting upwards of 500 people online a day; chat always has loads of membs in it (from what I've seen); and the project forums are anything but empty.

Looking at the stats page there's a quite healthy trend:

..............New Topics.New Posts.New Members.Most Online

May 2008 1711....19474..........1268..........407
April 2008 1780......19479..........1285..........521
March 2008 1821....20362..........1388..........417
February 2008 1783...19832...........967..........210
January 2008 1814....26663..........1096..........227
December 2007 1622..18525..........861..........228

(Bearing in mind we are only part way through June, I left June's stats off)

I really could have thought this post out better, couldn't I. Sorry about that. Well, seeya, don't suppose you'll reconsider leaving or anything, but just remember (even if it is cliched as fuck) it's the members that make a site not the administration.

(Sixty and Venetia's posts added together come to more than that site has in total.)

I never really interacted with DerVV but I liked that his organisation was so anal retentive, so see you I guess.

Wyatt's got a point though, it is the members that make a site. So it's not really Despain making this forum so shit and so so tedious to read, it's the fact that rmxp.org has and will always have an idiotic userbase.

Well, it's no big deal, I still see you on other forums anyway, the topic is nice though and I'm sure Punk (Now known as Stereoprophet/SteP) will appreciate the advertising Despain gave him.
Everyone who remembers the old forums knows it was better (I guess that kinda explains why so many new RPG Maker forums have popped up since Despain took over) but people will still continue to come here because they came here before and now they are used to it.

Good point.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really don't understand all the animosity between certain forums. I wasn't around when Punk left along with multitudes of others, but it seems unreasonable to me that he's been carrying a grudge for so long.

So this forum isn't up to snuff to some people. Help us improve it! If you think the situation is bad, hop in, lend a hand, and help us fix the problem, rather than DDOSing us in the hopes that somehow it'll force a change in the administration!

This forum can be what everyone wants to to be, even with such a horrid and evil person as Despain at the reins. If you want things to change, help us out! If you just want to be petty and hang onto drama from last year, then by all means, continue this resistance.

I really dont see why everyone hates on Despain so much @_@

As long as you arent a complete idiot and dont shit post he's not going to bother you, really.

Yeah, a lot of these arguments against .ORG amount to "oh shit, their administration has fun with its stupid crap members! Let's focus on that and ignore the professional posts they make and how helpful they are sometimes!"

Like, at least Despain isn't klining or DDOSing anyone.

There IS a feedback/suggestion forum for a reason... I'm sick of reading this tiresome dramatic bullshit on every forum/community I go to. I don't know any of you guys, so don't take that personally.

Well first I'll say farewell to Der VVullfman because he was extremely helpful and DID give a lot  and did help me personally so I WILL be sad to see him leave not that he's that active here anymore anyway.

It doesn't slightly grate on me to see either people post as fanboys of Admins OLD or Admins NEW and it's always been that way, cheerleaders thinking it makes them look cool to those people or whatever.  I personally don't love / hate either regime.

Venetia and Sixty are two of the best staff this forum had in either it's new or old state and I hope that they stay the way they are.  They can can differentiate their posts in general discussion and game-dev sections and do so consistently.

Personally I prefer the discussion sections of this forum NOW because it feels like a bunch of 18 - 30's talk and considering I'm in that age bracket that would make sense.  The game development aspect of the site was far better before however.  Whether the people here like them or not, many of the people that left were generally quite skilled within some regards to making games and it hit the projects section quite hard and this hasn't recovered.

My ideal would be the serious nature of project discussion to stay in tact and let out or immaturities and sexual innuendo in general chat sections.

Damn this looks like a fucking essay now.  Oh and swearing really should be permitted anywhere, this is the Internet, all kids 8+ no every swear word already.  I use it as emphasis generally and I don't get how a decided select few words are taboo in society.

But seriously DW, see you around, You're a good guy and your entitled to your opinion, now or 8 months ago.

I've already said my goodbyes to you, DerVV. I always liked you, and it's a shame to lose you, but if you're unhappy, then that's all that really matters.

This next bit is directed at everyone, and I am only making it in opposition toward the negativity saturating the first page of this thread:

There's a lot of negativity from a certain group. They're not a defined group, and the members which compose this group constantly fluctuate and are never really subject to pinpointing. Half of them are good people and good members, and it's really a shame that they're part of this group, since they're kinda half the reason why this forum has been a bit of a pill. They're generally the people who feel "left out of the joke", or who're easily offended, or who are quick to blame.

What you people are not seeing is that it's not easy quelling the OTHER half of what's making this forum crummy. That's the n00b patrol. We've been banning for necroposting because you people don't see the logs. Before we started tempbanning (and really, it's only for a few days to a week--that's NOT harsh) for necroposting, we'd get reports of it like 10 times a day. That makes the forums look terrible, unorganized, and frustrating as all get-out. (By the way: It was MY idea to temp-ban for necroposting. It was not Des's idea, so I'm the "bad guy" there, despite his taking the blame. Does that change perspectives at all?)

Additionally, you battle with idiotism long enough, and you become hardened towards it. It's really not circumventable. Despain, believe it or not, used to be a pretty civil guy. Back in the .net days, anyway (remember, he's one of the longest-standing members as of our current memberbase). The only problem I see with him is that he's quicker to temper and less forgiving than some. Sometimes it gets on peoples' nerves (hell, he got on my nerves pretty bad a week ago or so), but it doesn't hide the fact that he contributes a hell of a lot and usually will give you some solid criticisms. Whenever you see him digress into "antics" is generally when he's given up to that person's overbearing n00bish ways.

Yes, people respond better to niceties, but he should not have to quell his personality as long as his content is, for the better part, solid.

In fact, I'm surprised people consider me to be nice. I've done a number of acerbic and/or trollish things in recent history, myself.

Another thing you people don't see is how Des and Tel respond to problems with the site in the staff forum. Hell, 90% of the time, it's a mod and/or me (I complain a lot) bitching about something, only to have it remedied by one of them. They are sort of the reason the site is still running at all (outside of shadow of course). Sixty and I mostly just prod staff in the (presumably) right direction.

In all actuality, this site, in my opinion, is 100% better, and that's not because I'm an admin. If you let loose and allow yourself to roll with the punches/jokes, this place is way more fun, way more personal, way more open, way less stuffy & "professional" (which IMO is a good thing). There are also more members than ever before, more activity than ever before, and we still have a heady stream of contributions which make us #1. So people who say this site is going downhill aren't looking at the numbers and are oblivious to the facts.

I'm staying here, exclusively. You won't see me migrating elsewhere. This place is my internet home. Just leave your shoes and coat at the door and join me.

So that's it. I gotta get back to work

-- Oh yeah, good luck, DerVV. Let me know if there's anything I can do for ya in the future.

Give the boy a cookie.

Man I just check back to see if anyone replied to my topic and see the same old shit repeating. Stop blaming Des, start blaming the fucking faggots.

Exactly why I left RMXP.org.  I didn't leave to become an admin at another well-known site.  I left for the same reasons.

I wish I had the bravery to post something as great as that.  I also possess a log of activity that severely breaks the rules of RMXP.org, right in the very IRC chatroom of #rmxp.  DESPAIN knows what I'm talking about.  I'm not discussing the names of anyone else involved in it (although they should be extremely ashamed of it).

You are a sick, disturbed man, and that is something nobody in their right mind will forgive you for.

To the other admin and members, I hope things get better for RMXP, it was a lot better in it's earlier days when ccoa was around.
