DeathLock's HKCP Contest Workshop

Welcome to my HKCP contest workshop, where I shall develop different kinds of HK sprites. Mostly unusual creatures, but I do this for experience and maybe prizes. XD

Well, I figured I could join to get some experience over my sprites. So, here I am. Hopefully, I'll improve through this contest.

I'm having a bit of trouble softening the edges, so you won't see much updates on that.

Updates:-
  • Completed the front view shading on Urge.

Thanks Venetia, this should help me out in the shading. About the Shard, that's due to that I re-shaded the head must have messed it up.

I think with all of these templates, they seem to lack any sort of muscle, which means they don't look realistic.

Now you see where there should be muscle, but isn't. And it looks like he has about four elbows. Try to make it proportionate so that:

  • There is more muscle to each arm portion (eg. upper arm, lower arm, wrist, hand), and
  • Try to define these individual sections.

Well I'm gonna be completely honest. I really can't see where or how people would use this. Mainly because the limbs look too stretched out. I realize its and edit of the original HK's but it's really not working out. I highly suggest making your own arms because stretching out the temp like this is just...eh..

You should really implement your knowledge of anatomy to make these new limbs look believable and not tube/ spaghetti like. Heres an example of what I mean. its an edit of "torment" to illustrate what I'm talking about:

You should try to embellish the deformities since they're not human.

If you need any help with anatomy let me know.

I understand what you mean, I should be adding more non-human features instead of just stretching them out making them look useless rather than a monster. I'll take an example of what you've done and put it to use.

Hey with the Urge's arms, think about goro from mortal kombat. Do both of his arms attach to one pit? No. They have two pecks for the two arm

Thats looking quite a bit better. Try to shade the 'lower' arm so that it's attatched, at the moment it looks as though it is just floating there. Unless it's attatched to the back of the sprite.

Oh, and you score extra brownie points as being the first person to call me by my real name. :)

looks totally unnatrual. study GORO, he's a decent example of how the four arms thing would work. those look like they're growing from the same shoulder joint
