CREPUSCULUM 2

I'm quite crazy on this game! I love it when a game has a lot of atmosphere to it (especially if that atmosphere is dark, frightening, and vaguely Lovecraftian,) and this game certainly has that. It seems to live up to the atmosphere, too, since from what I can see things are happening very actively; fleeing from shadowy figures, finding the root of the malarkey, etc.

I'm not going to rave about absolutely everything I love about this game, but suffice to say that I must now find and play number one. Looking forward to a demo with bated breath!

Well, I don't know about Lovecraft, but I feel that the game has a unique, dark feel that differs from the original.

I will be rereleasing the original prior to the release of this game.

It looks pretty good, but the screen tinting seem a bit overboard. Haven't played the first one... How does the combat/stungun system work?

Where does it seem overboard? Its the screen tinting that really makes the atmosphere in this game so good, I think.

Well it's not much of a combat system, its more of a defense system. In the original, it was just that when slow moving enemies attack you, your stun gun will shock them off for four times before you have to reload a battery.

In this game, you can get upgrades to THROW ENEMIES BACK.

Excellent! It's cool seeing a game move through its different stages of production. So many threads these days are all drama, no development.

It's hard to overstate how much I'm looking forward to both this and the re-release. Keep up the great work ethic! ( ^.^)b

The game sounds interesting.
The screens are a little too dark to see anything, though... And no, there's nothing wrong with my monitor.

The program is perfectly visible on all three screens on my computer. This leads me to believe that ... it IS your monitor. However, I am going to provide instructions on how to fix this problem by adjusting the brightness on your graphics card (or gamma if need be) in order to see the game properly.

Perhaps you would like to play the original first, which is going to be re-released most likely by the end of the month as  CREPUSCULUM: X ...

Well it's not too far off. The game is something like 70-80% complete. I'm nearly done with Ellie's final area, and then I just need to work on Alexis' Final Area and create a lot more customized tilesets for the "Inversion" area. And the final boss fight and the end of course. :) ...

So far on Ellie's final area I've used 7 seperate tilesets for a single area! Woah!

Oh and stay tuned for CREPUSCULUM: X, once I finish debugging all the way through the subway I take screens and make a new topic to show what I've done. It's really going to be a huge upgrade from the original, and its important to understand the story of 1  to understand the story of 2 so you can try to get all 5 storybook  notes, all four newspaper clippings, and even the Messenger note and so on ... and all 3 extra ending cutscenes by getting A rank.

I know how to adjust the monitor just fine. I can make out some things in the screens, but an example of a screen that is far too dark is the "Danger lurks around every turn." one.
The only one that I can see perfectly well with no problems is the "The disaster returns ..." one. The others I can see partially due to them have very dark spots in them. I would assume this is a lighting issue or something.

As for the screen you are talking about, you should be able to see the monster in front of her, her, and a dead body on a cross to the left. I can make out these things easily on my screen. The only time when I cant see them is when I am looking at my monitor from the wrong angle.

Also, lots of shadows are moving in the game, because I add the moving effect to fogs (very small effect indoors, large effect outdoors). There are some intentional shadows like the ones in the area with the bars. Also, generally a image follows the character that makes everything around her seem darker, but what is closer to her appears brighter.

I may consider including a brightness option for those who still have trouble seeing in the game.

However, if your monitor truly does work perfectly and is the same brightness level of mine, then you should be able to see perfectly in the game. Or at least what you are meant to see.

I can't wait for the finished game, i'm almost done with the first one..
i'm quite disapointed with how short the first one is though..i downloaded it yesterday and had reached the last area yesterday..so is it possible the sequel is longer?

The original was something like 2:30. The sequel is estimated to be 3:30 - 4:00, even surpassing the length of Resident Evil 2!

I plan to change the color scheme of the game to make it brighter to address concerns already stated in this thread.

I'm sorry if it did not seem like I was listening to your concerns.
