Cloverfield! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

A lot of the story is for us to wonder about and search to find on our own.  I think not knowing makes it really interesting.  Plus, many of the answers are being trickled out here and there around the net.

I hope there is not a sequel as it would severely eff it up.  Abrams has said that they considered doing one that told the story from the another perspective.  But I like it just they way it is.

The monster was well done, the effects were great and the camera idea was genius for this type of movie.

Probably gonna see it again this upcoming weekend cause I failed to stay for the whole credits and I want to hear the static at the end.  Plus I missed the satellite falling into the ocean in the last scene.  I know there must be some significance to that, but I don't know what it is yet.

I, for one, liked it.

I really liked it.

But it was very unpleasant to watch. Do NOT sit in the third row!

I would have liked it better if the ending wasn't so... predictable. I mean seriously. What is this new hollywood kick with "OOOH EVERYONE DIES!!! EVERYONE!!!"

Well, the camera was a little hard to get used to at first, but after a few minutes I was fine.

As for the ending, they all used to happy endings, so now they are changing things up a little.  I like it better this way, I always thought it was BS that one bimbo survived in slasher films.  Here, it was bit of a shock, but I kind of figured they were doomed.

Me too, I actually thought that was gonna be the end of the movie, but they added a little more for closure I guess.  And a kick ass shot of the monster.  I mean, how freaking cool was that monster?

I think that would have made a good ending point.  They then could have showed more footage if needed.  It was kind of a tease to put them thru so much and then just end it like that.

Like I said the point of the movie was survival.  It's a hypothetical situation but how many people could actually keep their composure and survive against a GIGANTIC CITY EATING MONSTER?  The characters probably would have lived if they didn't go back but that wouldn't have been a very compelling movie, now would it?

This was a pretty awesome movie. Brilliant concept, terrific execution....and also a real surprise. A movie this good released in Janurary? Usually this time of year is when studios drop their shittiest projects onto the masses while the media is still checking out the Oscar contenders from December.

The only thing I thought of (and this is hardly a complaint, more of a personal preference) was that I would have liked it if more "footage" from different outlets had been incorporated into the movie. That one scene where they were in the electronics shop and the camera was on the news report for a while was badass. I would have liked to see more of stuff like that.

More news footage would have been cool, but I think the not knowing what was going on really drove the film.  The unknown makes you think.  And if you look around the net, you can find viral sites that have weird videos like the one I posted above.

I just saw this tonight. I was the only person who stayed in the theater during the credits and there was nothing at the end. I thought there was suppose to be a extra clip at the end.
I had no idea what this movie was about before I went and saw it. All I knew was that there was a big monster in it.
And everyone I talk to never heard of it. "cloverfield? whats that? never heard of it"
I guess it was good since I didn't have any preconceived thoughts about it.

Hmm...It looked like it was pulling itself around with its front arms. I remember when they were right under it you could see these bulging sacs on the sides of its head. There were plenty of times when there was a clear image of the monster but the camera would pull away quickly so the image didn't stick to my mind.
When they were up in the helicopter you pretty much saw the whole thing.
IT was like Sin in Final fantasy X only skinner, longer arms, and without the whale face. It even looked like it was the same color and texture.

oh yeah! it also had three toes you could see when it falls over into a building. Non of the concept art I looked at online looked like the monster in the movie. I read that possible meanings of the title "Cloverfield" was the name of the army operation (most likely). But I like the silly meaning that the monster left clover foot prints all over Manhattan. That sparked my memory of it having 3 toes.

No Reives, that was a bogus pic posted around the net.  Kind of cool, but not close.  The monster is very cool looking.  It has a large jaw with sharp teeth and walked on all fours.  And, yes it did have pulsating sacs on the side of its head.  The little ones looked like spiders kind of.  They looked closely like the bugs from Starship Troopers.

Cloverfield is actually the name of a street next to Bad Robots office.  The name stuck with the movie when fans just called it that.  It was supposed to be called Greyshot, after a tram in NY or something.

At the end credits there is not a clip, but a static message thats says "Its still alive" when played backwards.  The clip is online if you want to hear it.
