Chrono Trigger............DS

Plus the DS has all the buttons the SNES had so there would be no mix up with the pass codes (LARA, XX/XY, XABY, and others) like when it was ported to the PSX with FFIV.

Anyone else notice that the clock on the website is real?  And yet it is called "countdown" when it only shows the time.  There is no actual countdown.

the psp has horrible loading time, ice. I was just talking about graphics.
its gotten better. they used to only use 222mhz, when the psp can reach 333mhz. they recently started using it to its full potential (first game to use it was god of war). it's really not that bad.. no worse than the ps1x/ps2, anyway.
any game on the psp is a money pit. piracy is too high and sales are too low. they'll rake in at least 3x the money selling it on ds, which -since its a port aka cashcow- is its sole objective.

anyway, i dont like chrono trigger, and i dont see the big deal with it.

Piracy for the DS is as bad as it is on the PSP. Believe me, it's bad for both sides.

Based on torrents isn't enough proof. There's ripd for psp games, while DS are ROMs. They only need 1 release from 1 source, PSP games tend to come from several sources, each with custom rips and stuff.

It's bad for both, and it's not a torrent chart that will make me change opinions :P

torrents aren't irrelevant. and there aren't THAT many different rips. huge games get 1gb rips, and others just get gutted.

perhaps you like warez.

it's not an opinion. its a fact: psp piracy is out of hand, and much more abundant than NDS piracy. it's probably something to do with the fact that the psp is incredibly easy to 'unlock', and the DS needs a 60$ flash cart, and a SD stick. no smart developer will touch it unless they know it's a title that will pull in sales (GoW, FF, monster hunter, etc), or if it's a multi-platform which they have nothing to lose by making a quick port (movie titles).

psp game development has slowed considerably in the past few months.

nearly every game conceivable that doesn't fucking whore the touchscreen would be better on the psp, due to it's superior technical capabilities, and a vastly larger capacity for it's software medium. of course chrono trigger would be much better on the psp, but it wouldn't sell as much, and that's all that matters in the long run.

at this point in time, Square-Enix stopped caring if they make good games or not, it's just about the money.

These days they make a shitty game, put Final Fantasy on the cover and it will sell millions. Even more if it's related to Sephiroth or Cloud.

They're becoming money whores, and Tetsuya is giving them what they want: more FF7 plot to keep the sales up and shit, without even caring how much f'd up the story is.

I seriously hope the future of Square becomes brighter, because ever since Shakaguchi and Nobuo left, it's been utter shit.

it really isn't

psp has more software but yes, piracy for it is as easy as owning a usb cable and a memory card which can be purchased from any store.

anyways, this game won't have anything fancy except an extra dungeon which will probably be some randomized bullshit with items that you won't care about because you've already beaten the game.  i'm tired of square releasing these dumb ports but the upcoming three dragon quest games will probably make me really happy.

but yeah, i beat chrono trigger more times than i can count so my level of "give-a-shit" is at a negative one.

A lot of people haven't played Chrono Trigger though [including me], so I'm glad.

The people who havent played CT are usually:

1) Young gamers who never got into the snes era
2) Never got a chance to buy it
3) Dont have a PC to rom it

All in all, I seriously doubt this version will be any better than the original. Every time SE makes a port (with exception to FFVI) they shit it up, so I think this one will be worse.

WOO SERCRET DUNGENEON!!! Yeah, no. Its just going to consist of level up to double star (if that remains in tact) and keep taping the a-button =(

All in all SE needs to stop fucking around and needs to start developing a new Chrono game, which will probably never happen, but it should. Mitsuda has expressed interest time and time again that he would compose for it, and I dont think it would be that hard to get Sakaguchi back (although he really isnt that involved in the project any more.)

Totally agree. That and FFVI were about the only two amazing RPGs before the snes era died out so anyone whose played CT will agree that the replay value keels over when you blaze through it the 1 MILLIONTH TIME.

yeah i was talking moreso along people who were like RPG ADVOCATES and shit lol

but it doesnt really matter overall because the snes version is probably going to end up superior. I dont see why fans are going to drop $50 bucks for a version with watered down dialog, a remixed ost (which will probably end up sounding either too symphonic or super pretentious) and stuff that can be found for free on the PC.

Im done talking about it, the rest of this thread is probably going to be posts of ct-fanboys talking about how they are creaming their pants waiting for this thing.

Damn, foiled again!  But yeah, I've beat the game many times, but I still love it for some reason.  I agree that they shouldn't sell it for more than $30, but it will probably be around $40 like the other new remakes.

Yeah... CTDS is going to be a ripoff. I mean, they could atleast improve graphics and sound. They have kazillion possibilities with the DS, and they aren't using them! What the hell, Square!
