Allusions and similarities doesn't make the second game like the first.  :P

I know they're different from each other, storywise and gameplay.  My question was that if there is someone who never even heard of Chrono Cross, would they be somewhat confused as to what's really going on?

And yeah, they copied the theme over to Cross.  XD

Well, Cross "IS" a parallel universe, but it does take place only 15 years (I think) after Trigger. Kid was raised by Lucca, heck, Kid is even in the ending of the Chrono Trigger Port for PS1 as a baby. And that Porre (I think?) from Chrono Trigger is in El Nido.

Cross takes place after Trigger, BUT, it is in a different, alternate demintion. Think of it this way:

Destroyed Future = Kid is never sent through time from Zeal.

Saved Future = Er...

Chrono, Lucca, and Marle die. Chrono and Marle die from Porre attacking Guardia. Lucca dies in the flames of the orphanage.
