Yeah mission hill was very endearing. As was Home Movies. Then of course there was Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Sealab 2021, and the Brak show. All gone now unfortunately. Boondocks has been on repeat for awhile. Seems like they are just rehashing the nigger moment joke in different iterations now.

Compared to those really solid shows the new fare on adult swim is pretty sad. Squidbillies is about as hit or miss as aqua teen hunger force was. Then of course there is the long line of adult swim shows they refuse to commit to so we have a bunch of stupid little pointless half seasons like Drinky Crow and that stupid show with the mouse with the shotgun and a brief appearance by kentucky shark. The only good things on are Venture Bros. and Boondocks and as said previously Boondocks has gone downhill. Frisky Dingo was really awesome but being cartoon network they pulled the plug on that to give fat guy on the internet a timeslot only to cancel that a week later. If the ever changing dysfunctional adult swim lineup is a clue as to how CN has been run since mid 2000 I think the word to describe it would be clusterfuck.

Yet somehow despite all that they are able to get creative people together to produce shit like venture bros., Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Chowder, etc.

Yeah Robot Chicken's formula was simply, "stupid celebs are stupid" and "what if my childhood cartoon heroes fell on the skids or worked mundane office jobs" and "lol puns and poop humor" etc. By season two it was getting old.

But yeah I don't get what the adult swim execs are thinking when they give people like the FD show a hard time but try and get the tim and eric guys and all their buddies prime time slots to regurgitate food on television and cross dress badly. It's like they took out all the subtlety and brains out of what monty python's flying circus so good and so we're left with a couple of guys jabbering like idiots in front of the camera. Then the non tim and eric crowd that frankly are better sketch writers i.e. look around you and delocated get like a 2:00 am slot. If venture bros. wasn't so successful they'd prolly have it in the one o'clock time slot to make way for a two hour family guy and tim and eric block.

dude ok like 90% of T&EASGJ is horrible but the 10% that is funny is like fucking AMAZINGLY funny

they roll into an alley after the cops make a huge deal about going under a lowered stopping gate and then got shot up by mexicans for like 10 minutes straight it was amazing
and office hugs etc are just fantastic

if you've ever seen the funny or die show on cable it's basically exactly the same show except with more misses than hits

also you have to appreciate their ability to troll people into watching whatever stupid crap they put on ... they just need to know how to balance the incredibly underbudgeted troll shows with the legit shows

tim and eric are smart guys, just like seth macfarlane. they can put something low quality with random plot arcs for a long period of time and they know people will watch it

honestly I was watching family guy last night and it was an episode from season 2 and it was REALLY good! then the next one was like chris becoming a cool kid (a new season ep) and it was really terrible

the secret isnt to make things you think people would like, its to appease to them so terribly that no matter what you think they might like it = fart gags and lame jokes

I haven't sat down to watch TV in a long time. Thanks to the internet I just download/youtube shit, but today's cartoons are so stupid.
If my kid ever says 'daddy spongebob is the shit', I'll smack him, and not because he swore.
And yes, i know Spongebob is Nickelodeon. Or is it just NICK! now?

Spongebob beats the hell out of that Total Drama shit. One of my cousins is super-into it and loves reciting the HILAARIOUS jokes involving bodily functions every time there's a family gathering. Said cousin is 14.

i used to kind of like it when it first came out (i think i was 13?) and watched it here and there. until i realized the writing was terrible, the characters were annoying and the animation is almost as bad as johnny test. probably worse. i'm getting really tired of these shows with characters that only ever face one direction, have three expressions, and abuse the hell out of motion tweening.

yea what happened to spongebob is basically what happened to dexter's lab and powder puff girls. Stephen Hillenburg created Spongebob but in 2004 he became a producer and stopped working on the show. It summarily went to shit. Likewise DL and PPG, which were created by Genndy Tartakovsky, went to shit right after Tartakovsky left. The properties were too big for the networks to let them go, so they plugged untalented people in the helm to keep milking the series for a little longer.

A shame but Tartakovsky keeps popping up with cool shit so it's not a huge loss as far as he goes. Samurai Jack was cute and the Clone Wars miniseries was the best thing to come out of the SW franchise for a long long time

IDK if Hillenburg's done anything else. Dumb pop culture trivia: Hillenburg was actually a marine biologist before making the Spongebob pilot

I can't believe they are canceling one of their best viewed shows. I hope they don't get rid of Flapjack, I love that one and to see Chowder go (No more Mung or "Ladies".) is just silly of them.

They might as well change their channel name now. It was one of those good shows, like Keenan and Kel and Ka-blam!

Cartoon Network is doing everything wrong. Got rid of Oblongs, one of my favorite Adult Swim shows

They are cancelling it because it must not be getting good rating, and no one is buying advertising slots around it. Therefor, no one's getting paid.
A show can be critically acclaimed, but if the major people are not watching it, or the demographic sucks, the advertisers will not want anything to do with it. So, CN's pulling it out to make room for something else.
Shows get cancelled all the time. It's a damn shame for some of the good shows out there, but people don't always watch something that's good.

Sidenote: I don't know what the Nielson ratings for these shows are, but most of the ratings you see are not the real official stuff, I think.
