The story and hostory you've come up with appear very nicely thought up! I'm impressed ^^ Your mapping skills are also very nice! Much better than I could do in either department.

I'm working on a game at the moment. However, my biggest interests (and all I've put an effort into so far) are battle mechanics and character stat/ability growth systems. I've been trying to think up good stories and I've been practicing mapping... and althought I find my work sufficient, games would be a lot better if people combined their specialties and worked together.

I appologize as this might have been better suited as a PM, but I'm thinking about offering to program a battle system. That is, if you're still looking for someone to do that. If you are, I'll send you some of my work... However, I may change my mind as I'm in the midsts of potentially recruiting writers and mappers for my project. I just thought I'd say this in case that doesn't work out.
 
Hey there Retlaf! Well thanks, the prospect of this seems very good to me but I kinda have to go through the formalities first.

As you aren't really an active member here (sorry if you are known at other big forums, this is the only one I use), I am unaware of your abilities, reliability of completion etc.

So like you said I would need to see some of your work initially. May I ask by battle system do you mean scripted or evented? I already have a battle system designed, though I would imagine it to be very difficult to script and was beginning to accept I wouldn't be able to have it. PM me or write back in this thread whatever suits you.

Hey Calibre! I admit I'm not active, but I lurk. ^^ Anywho,

I'm currently in 1st year University for Software Engineering, so I'm really only interested in scripting. I got into RGSS awhile back and have messed around quite a bit. I finally decided to take on a project, but all I have done is the battle system. I'd imagine making everything for the game would be well beyond me. As such I'm looking for a team. I'm current pending on some individuals who may be interested, but in the event they don't join me...

Anyway, sorry about my offer being so vague. I might not have what you're looking for. If I were to join your project, I would like to be in charge of how the battle system works entirely. Of course, if we have different ideas, it wouldn't work out. I guess since all I really want to do is make a battle system, I'm looking to join up with people interested in the rest of the game's aspects. Although, I'm very picky as well (perfectionist ^^). So I'm not going to work for just any project. ;)

Really, bordom results in screenies? For me it's the other way around, I hate taking screens, although it's what I'm doing now. PS: Get on MSN soon, I need to chat to you about something.
 
Hi. I don't know if (but I probably am) too late but I'd like to do some sprites for you. All that I really have to show you are some of my old scrapped sprites. I decided the size was too much to complete them, because I'd have to make and edit all the tilesets as well. But here are some of my first sprites. RTP sized ones are way easier for me and if I have a design idea for the characters already I can make them really fast. Anyway, heres some of my old work. If I'm too late... oh well, it's the thought that counts.

No its not to late at all. The position of the project with spriters is that M.Sam is doing one currently. I have requested Hydrolic to make one that he has started and is going well on. Alastyr has accepted to do some sprite posing though I think he is fairly busy with his own project and I don't know how many he will be able to do.

I've recently started toning down the detail in my maps just a little to ensure that I actually do progress with the game... and to good results. In the past few days I have nearly completed a full dungeon area that should be around
20 - 30 minutes more playtime (Read:5 minutes :P).

I like the idea of the Jump icon in the corner, it's a raaather good idea. I may have to steal somehting of the sort, although probaby with an animation instead. In general, i like the project. Its a bit sexy =] though i dislike the amount of interest your project is recieving in comparison with mine =[

But kudos to Callibre for blowing my mind yet again. I like the last screenie the most though... it sets a mood that i really like.

Yeah an animation would look better, but I'm just using that method for a lot more actions than just jump, so it's easier that way.

And don't worry, my project doesn't recieve all that much interest, I just post screenshots alot to decieve everyone into believing that people are interested! ha!

Your game is brand spanking new too.

The top screen is the entrance that attaches to the village.
The middle screen is the more open part of the mine nearer the entrance.
The last screen is when you get deeper into the mines labryinth.

And thanks for the praise, these maps were sposed to be were I started toning down the detail in favour of some sort of progression
 
Yes, it's been a while, but I'm back now, at full power ( well, I hope so).
But keep this up, I really love the screenshots, I would like to see the Battle System, do you already have it scripted?

You may want to check back with Imageshack, a lot of your images aren't showing on the front page, this game looks promising and I'd like to see how it unfolds.
