If you're referring to the fact that some seem to be zoomed more than others, or the colors of the backgrounds, the faces aren't really entirely done/stylistically finalized. When the game/demo is released they will have borders and all have the exact same backgroun color. We are also retooling pictures of Yammie and Bildo to zoom them in a bit further. I told the guy who does the mug work that I don't care if the horns and hair are cut off. If you are referring to the fact that some of the pictures are higher quality than others, that's because we actually purchased rights to use several thousand photos suitable for the game. These are professionally taken pictures, but because of the fact that every single NPC in this entire game has a unique face, it was necessary. (We are however working on getting more faces to make them more consistant.)

Although I wonder what you mean by lame humor. What's funny to one person may well be funny to another. This game is a wonderful mix of slapstick, dry sarcasm and wit, and quit a bit of nonsense, but we try to keep it all in the context of the world.

Just warning you not to go overboard. If a game tries too hard to be funny, and if the humor doesn't seem like it's natural, than it can really ruin what you're going for.

Oops, I just realized my recent posts in here got eaten by the board downage.

I'm going to try my best to have a demo out by Dec. 30 as a late christmas present. This will be mostly a concept demo, in the sense that it will be the full length prologue chapter, but will be without any voice overs and short on a lot of scripts and custom graphics. This is mostly so people can see where we are going with it, and to show that the game really does exist.

Umm, it hasn't been recorded officially yet. It's basically a re-written version of a song record by a bunch of friends of mine on a crappy mic in the center of a crowded bedroom, and was actually the inspiration for one of Canadian Knight's characters, Scottish MacGillicutty AKA The Dirty Scotsman.

I will talk to Nick about uploading the old-school version.

I've got some updates on the demo, which I hope to have out this month!

For the sake of release something instead of waiting on all sorts of resources that are nowhere near being done, I'm gonna put out a somewhat barebones demo.

That is, no voice overs. (The demo will include a voiced over teaser though, just to give you guys an idea, and to show that much of the voices are recorded already.)

Also, we will be lacking some custom graphics, and some graphics will otherwise be temporary. This mostly applies to Ratlord and Bob the Janitor.

The combat system will be nothing like the final version is supposed to be. I MAY be able to get in the battle voices, although that depends on Nick getting them cut up and over to me.

Finally, the "no random battles" thing isn't going to make it into the demo. This is a huge resource sink, and I'd rather not have it all, rather than having it suck.

Canadian Knights is in the middle of yet another script rewrite, and we are trying to make it as short as possible so it's actually possible to accomplish.

Alright!

My "Before the end of December" launch window is being pushed a little bit to include most of Jaunary as well. It's possible December will see the release, but my brother is on leave from the Army for the rest of the month, and once he leaves he's off to Iraq, so I'm spending a lot of time with him and not so much time with Canadian Knights. Sorry guys.

Some good news though is that a lot of post-demo content has been finished and polished meaning post-demo releases won't take nearly as long.

Progress report!

The following applies to the demo only -

[||||||||||] Maps
[||||||||||] Events
[||||||||||] Voice Overs (Recording)
[||||||||||] Voice Overs (Processing)
[||||||||||] Graphics (Characters)
[||||||||||] Graphics (Battlers)
[||||||||||] Graphics (Mugs)
[||||||||||] Graphics (Misc)
[||||||||||] Music
[||||||||||] Sound Effects
[||||||||||] Custom Engines (Menu)
[||||||||||] Custom Engines (Battle)

As you can see, misc. graphics, voice overs and music are the major problems here. Our CMS is coming out beautifully thanks to Meisme/Yeyinde, but I still need to get the last two mockups to him, and my main menu revision. The CBS is low priority, since the game is playable without it, but is in the pipeline.

I remind you as always that this demo is an entirely new addition to the game and script, but has been fully retrofitted into the existing scenery and only one script revision is pending. The reason I keep pressing this is that although this demo is being developed retardedly slow, there is a LOT done outside of the demo. I mean, the first 4-5 hours of the game are pretty much done map-wise, and we have graphics for all but 2 main characters.

This really is coming people :D It might even come packaged with exotic bath meats!

New screenshots coming today too!
