Lore
In the first dawn of recorded time, two very powerful beings roamed Evala. These two beings were lonely with only each other for company, so they worked together to form four races—the Krah, Fraia, Yunia, and Kinden. Originally, there was not very much at all to differentiate the races; but, as the powerful beings interacted with their creations, they developed a favoritism toward the Krah and Fraia—pouring massive amounts of power, and making them very different from the Yunia and Kinden.

These two weaker races felt that they would soon be crushed by the rising races’ power and worked together to formulate a plan. Infiltrating the beings’ homes, they worked to turn the beings on each other… and it worked—the first war of the races was begun.

As the war continued, the beings abused their power over the races and, soon, even those who were favored turned against their creators. In secrecy, ambassadors of each race met together and joined their powers to create a trap. In the final battle of the war, the trap was implemented and when the two beings finally game together in battle—they were fused together into a static form—resembling krystallis.

The races discovered they could still draw power from this fused form and chaotic greed erupted—everyone who could came to touch the stone and taste its power. In doing so, the races further distanced themselves from each other: the Krah took on the instinct of animals; the Fraia developed the power and terrible beauty of pure energy; the Yunia took the majestic darkness of the night; and the Kinden adopted the ability to create and forge new paths. These differences—and the desire to keep the krystallis form for themselves—were leading the races toward the dawn of a new war.

Seeing this, a small group of people—who were not yet overcome by the form’s power—stole away with the form in the secrecy of night and hid it, not wanting to see their world ravaged again by yet another war.
In their quest to save the world, they were destroyed. It is this, and this alone, which kept the form hidden for nearly two-thousand years; but, as was only a matter of time—the krystallis form was found through the curiosity of a young prince.

Any critisim or feedback would be useful

Hey there, this is one of the artists for Blackfire. Just wanted to say that this project is going to be really well done. So please look forward to it.

There's a lot of things that they haven't revealed yet, but when the demo comes out ...you'll be blown away. ;p

@Legacy: Lore looks fantastic ;3

I really am going to need to play a demo of this, in order to gain an understanding of this story. It's kinda confusing, since I don't really understand what the Lore has to do with the main story. I do however, like the whole concept of the "Lore" and it's four race types all with different attributes. But judging from the few character descriptions that I've read, (which are in my opinion, to in depth), the different races doesn't pertain to any of the characters except for one.

I don't understand where do humans come from, since this is on a distant planet and the Lore has said nothing about the beings creating humans. I wonder if the beings roamed the planet along with humans when they decided to create the other four races? If so, what is the total or estimated amount of each individual being created for each race. I only ask because I wonder if one race outnumbers another or if they outnumber the humans, and if so how could the four kingdoms ever had been at peace if the four races are always at war.

How long after the events in the Lore is the setting set for? One would have to believe that after at least a hundred years, crossbreeding would be bound to happen, and the same goes for the different abilities each race possesses. I like the philosopher's stone idea you got going in the idea of the Blackfire Gem, but I fail to see a genuinely interesting/eventful plot/goal for the main characters. What would they be saving the world from or for exactly?

Like I've said in the beginning, maybe playing a demo will elaborate on a few things about the story for me, and since this is a Legacy Project I am going to play regardless. But you story is deep and detailed and it could be an interesting one, if you spin everything the right way. (which is the creative, non-cliche way).

S.N. Where did the wizards come from? Are they the race known as Fraia?

ugh. full voice acting in an rpg maker game? you understand how difficult it is to put full VA to an incredibly low-detail 2D medium without it feeling super-incongruous, right?

your elemental is really chewing the scenery there, by the way. the female side sounds like she knew what she was doing, but the dude's strained this-is-my-bad-guy-voice voice combined with the superemphasised pauses make for some pretty hilarious overacting.

Yeah, we understand how hard this is going to be. Thats why we're only going to use VA for the most important Cutscenes, or most of the cutscenes, allong with text. So it's not really Full VA. But yeah i understand what your saying.

Ok, now for No ID, im going to try and answer your questions as deeply as possible.

The lore just adds background to what happened during the beginning. and the creation etc. (sort of like the bible explaining how the earth was formed). . The demo should and will hopefully explain most if not all of what you need to know. The lore is getting re-written to be a little more reader friendly.

We renamed the Human race to be known as the "Kinden". The total , esitmated amound for each individualof each race is kind of blurred, not really sure about the size of each race as of yet. but if i had to say which ones the less amount,it would be the Humans yes. The whole wor and peace thing is a little complicated to kind of explian right here and now, and is much better suited to be explained during the demo.

The main events are set about 500 years after the lore. And to be totaly honest we never thought about crossbreeding, and its not something that we would expect to happen, since the DNA is far to diffrent (think about real life, we cant cross breed with other animals becuase of our immune system. etc) As for the stone, it plays a important role, but its not one i want to go into detail about, since it would really ruin most of the game, so you'll just have to wait and find out for that (sorry).

I think once the demo is out it will cover everything you'll need to know, and hopefully answer a few of your questions. And im glad to hear that you'll play it just because its an LS project ^_^

Im sorry i couldnt explain anything more or in much more depth. I'll try to asnwer any questions i missed when i get back tommorow.

I know its been a long time since i last posted, thats failure on my part. However, this project is going strongly.

Here are some updates:

Updates to the lore
There was a time; ages before the kingdoms were even dreams, when two great heroes walked the lands of this world, sculpting them into a masterpiece... like an artist would mould a lump of clay into a beautiful vase or figure.

They were powerful, brilliant, and kind… but they were also incredibly lonely. Unable to have children themselves, they decided to use their brilliance and power to create children. It was in this way that the four races were born.

As with all siblings, the races were different from each other--each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes, these differences led to fights… claims that the creators favoured one race over another. Many times, even the creators could not convince their children that there were no favourites… and eventually, a great and horrible war broke out across the land.

Having given their children their own powers and wills, the creators were unable to force their children to stop their fighting… and had to step into the fight themselves. Not realizing that their parents were only trying to help, the four races focused on what they believed to be a common enemy.

Unwilling to destroy their children and return to loneliness, the creators gave one last gift to the world--themselves. The parents joined together and took on a krystallis form which could not be destroyed by any means. Had the races been able to defeat the creators, the entire world would have been wiped away--instead, the races were given an opportunity to gain power and knowledge together in peace.

not allot of stuff to show, mainly due to most of it being behind closed doors at this time. Just looking for alot of C&C and Feedback. :smile:

Looks really good, legacy! I'm not so sure how that sprite style will mesh with rtpstyle maps, but we'll hafta see about that. Also, your battle system looks a tad bland. I would take the text of HP and SP off, since the bar graphics have them, and maybe do something about all that open space. Maybe have a different battle window?

@ŊŒRIJ∑

I know currently the maps are in RTP, but hopefully soon, we should have custom tilesets meshing with the sprite style we are aiming for. As for the battle system, im currently designing one for Blackfire.

@Gingasnap99
thanks you, im happy you like it. :grin:

but on a side note..

Something im designing currently for Blackfire, and perhaps the public.

and designing this as the battle system.

C&C is welcomed with open arms :3

ever think about the possibility of adding in specific adjustments of the target cursor of the battle for every specific monster?
the screenshot above looks like it's pointing to the wolf's butt
