is great, reminds me of some of the graphics in Battleon, and I'd love to play a game fully in that style (Battleon has too much dross alongside).

the foreground has the black outline. It would scroll faster than the background.

Im not happy with the consistency of the shading, but im touching it up when i do highlights and shadows
Opinion: Should I keep the grass shadows high contrast like the right side or lower contrast on the left? I realize they arent consistent.

it looks neat, but ... i see like a field of barnacles or lotus seed pods or something, not water

The dark purple is the water, yeah the red circles are barnacles/suckers/whatever

I still need to render more color into it
But so far I've only used three palette colors.

Everything is in a bunch of different layers. When I finish, Im going to put it all in Unity and see how it looks.

Looks like it could be intresting, not sure about the tree bark though, if that's what it's supposed to be anyways.

By the way, which program do you use? I'll be starting to draw again soon, and I'm trying to get used to GIMP, but I'll probably download Flash or Fireworks since I like the way they do lines and shit.

Yeah I need to render the tree some more and fix the rocks. I just had to go to work and decided just to post it.

I use photoshop to do everything.
Good luck using GIMP, I could not stand it and it doesn't have very good tablet support.

Yeah, I'm finding GIMP very difficult to adapt to, it's so weird, lol... guess I'll go yarrrgh a copy of Photoshop, I was going to anyways, along with, like I said, Flash or Fireworks, since I like the line styles, y'know how it turns your wobly lines into nice smooth curves and shit, and if I get Flash I can work on some animations and comics and shit too maybe.

I've never even heard of fireworks. As for flash I have used it but i was trying to animate something.
It really depends on what you are doing. I like the full render process of drawing and then painting, and thats pretty hard to do in flash.

It's prob going to take a little while to get used to the tablet though
