trying to practice just straight painting with no lineart x:
i just realized the shading on the trees do not make any sense

Yeah, the shade of the trees is strange. I think that since the light source(as I can see) is in
the upper right, you should correct the tree shadows according to the light source.
But everything else looks good. I like how you added the little details like
the little plants. It needs work, but since it's a practice, it's good!

took about 30 min and i was just kind of playing around. Its super rough but im going to make that tree clump look beautiful ~o:

instead block everything out, and have the details be the very last things you do

also fyi those dark long spots in the clouds are tornados i just have yet to actually do them x;

Looking nice, bacon! And yeah, I agree about blocking out areas first and then detailing. I always start with blocks of color and then detail. Don't worry too much about how you're doing the water for now. That's the dark gray area, right? Water is hard as balls to paint, but on the plus side, you don't really have to detail it that much if it's far away.
