Bandits of Arabia

banditsoftitlerq2.png

Game Information

This game is based on fantasy, none of the towns, cities or other areas exist but the country that this game is set in is Arabia. I have purposely tried to avoid the subject of religion in this game in case any religious group became offended in any way.
Most of the games text is in English but there are a few parts spoken in other languages such as Spanish. The parts in different languages I used a translator to find so they may not translate perfectly. If you don’t speak the languages then don’t bother trying to translate them because it is not important what they say.
The age rating of the game is 15 as it contains Violence and bad language.
This game is completely non-commercial and there are no plans to make it commercial.
Demo Information
It is about 2 hours long at least and features some quests that are important, and optional quests. In the demo you will be able to visit Duqaqhri; The large, walled city that you start off in and the Duqaqhri undercity which is a large community living underneath the city, The desert; Which is a large area of sand :yes , but there are lots of places like small villages around it, and Tansim which is a small town where all the thieves all live.

Story

It is the early 15th centaury in Arabia, the story starts in an almost lawless city lead by a useless leader who is supposed to be enforcing the law. The city is surrounded by a huge fortress and almost no one is allowed to leave.
This city is where a group of thieves led by the man Amir Mu’izz; said to be one of the greatest thieves of all time, along with his team: Rami Darhay, Halla Aludra, Itzal Zahir, Jaul and M’ad M’an. Another group of thieves were children at the time Amir’s team was around were some of the last people to see him ‘alive’ as he saved them and other orphan children from soldiers. Three days after this Amir and his whole gang disappear.
It is thought that they were killed by Hassan, the kings right hand man although it is also rumoured that it is in fact Hassan and the kings grandson Sayyid who are in charge of the country in secret.
8 years After Amir’s disappearance later the orphan children; Karim, Tariq, Iras, Andre and Mukhtar have become a well known thieving gang until Mukhtar was killed in the streets. Now Karim, Tariq, Iras and Andre are out for revenge.

Cities

Duqaqhri
duqaqhrimapcq5.png

Duqaqhri is where the poorest people live, there is basically no work for any of the thousands of people who live there and water and food are either hard to come by of too expensive for most people to afford. The city has the most criminal activity. Some of the thieves have built a small fortress using nearby houses. Most of the main charachters either live or have lived here at one point.

Duqaqhri's undercity
duquazhriundercitymaphr9.png

The under city is located underneath the streets of duqaqhri. it is free of patrolling soldiers and people that will attack you for money. the slightly better off people, such as some of the thieves and people who own illigal buisnuses, in duqaqhri live underground because soldiers for some reason unknown to the public turn a blind eye to the fact that it exists. (weapon shop is not availible in demo) You should watch out for people trying to rip you off.

Inas
inaswc7.png

The city of Inas began as a small mountain village, then people started to move there, it is now a large city with a market that people from nearby villages come to, the city is led by General Yaqub; that's his castle on the mountain, the town has a mixture of rich and poor residents, and a lower crime rate than duquaqhri.

Lates version of the demo fixes bugs/spelling and new sprites for carachters.

I didn't download the trailer but the screens look good and i like the originality of the setting. The story doesn't give away much, which I like. Looks interesting so far.

Quite an impressive looking game. The trailer presentation was a little lacking, but the scenes were beautiful. You've got the atmosphere down pact. The game seems very well meshed. I loved that scene with the massive army, but I pray that we don't have to fight them O.o

Awesome Bro

This is kinda wierd, the game is caled Bandits of Arabia, but the photo you used on the background is obviously in Africa, also, on the picture "A Cave" where the guy says "Leave the body" the dead corpse, has obviously been raped blind, it looks like his pants are still down to his ankles, the knife didn't kill him, the sperm did ! Mystery solved !

This has one of the most original setting on this forum.
It's been a long time since I read something with such interest, very good.

The mapping is awesome, so is the trailers, your scenes are really beatiful.
I hope you can finish this. This would be a badass.
Keep on it.

Jason

Awesome Bro

Simacir, want me to make you a Title screen for your game ? The one you have at the minute isn't very attractive, looks like the front cover of a really boring book, lol.

Just give me a few themes to consider, and I'll work my magic, lol.

Ohh man, this game looks really rather cool. I love the style you've got going - and the trailer got me all excited for a demo. I like the temple sort of locations I saw somewhere in there. They reminded me of Tomb Raider...?

At first glance this seems like a worthwhile project but after closer inspection I can see how inherently flawed it is.

1: The first Saudi State wasn't formed until the 1700s.  Before then, the entire Arabian Peninsula was referred to as Arabia.

2: There are spelling and grammar mistakes galore in your story synopsis.  I tried to comprehend it but you completely lost me.  I don't know if your native language is english or not but you should get someone to proof read your stuff.

3: Why are there robots in a 1400s setting?

4: Sala or Saja (you have like... two or three different spellings for each character) is a woman.  No woman would be accepted as a mercenary unless she was foreign and no man in Arabia would "date" a woman (you said she's the guy's girlfriend but marriages were pre-arranged).

5: It's the DESERT guys.  If setting a game in a desert gets your panties in a bunch then what would a game set in Antarctica do?

My advice to you: clean up your spelling and don't claim your game is set in Saudi Arabia because it isn't.  Do some research before setting your game in history or say that it takes place in a fantasy or alternate timeline where things are different.

Nice setting you have there, love the idea of a game set in the mideast.
But you should look for other solutions for the dark places... hate those dark screenshots.... but thats just me XD

Zenrdy: I think I prefer the original title screen.... even if it is africa XD
yours is just to empty, but thats Simacir call

Royal pig villain XD... priceless

Other than your HORRENDOUS spelling (seriously work on that) this game seems really fucking cool.

5: It's the DESERT guys.  If setting a game in a desert gets your panties in a bunch then what would a game set in Antarctica do?

Don't be hatin' on deserts, man.

@Marcus-
1- The game is not based on facts and so it is not in every way the same as history but, it is more a mixture of reality and fantasy, but i will change it to be reffered as Arabia if that will make you happy(er).
2-I don't care about that right now.
3-That is explained in the game.
4- Sala was a typo. And alot of the charachters familys are origionally from europe, africa or aisia as well as arabic. Both Jal and Saja are from african families, besides not everyone would follow traditions like pre aranged marriges.
5- I doubt many people do any reasearch on the historyof where they're setting a game.

@Zendry-
I said earlier that I still need to get my title screen ready so i dont realy need that.

Okay I change my mind, scooter.

Marcus gave you some solid criticism and you pretty much just ignore/refuse it so I don't support the game anymore.

1: Okay, the game is fantasy so you should label it as such.

2: If you're too lazy to even fix your spelling then how do I know you'll work hard on anything else?

3: So I'm guessing you took a page out of Assassin's Creed and tossed a sci-fi element in your project.  Fair enough.

4: Natives who didn't follow tradition where stoned.  Either those two aren't natives or, just like number 1 on my list, your game is fantasy.

5: Those people who don't do any research on their subject matter either don't claim it is based on history (as you just did) or their games suck.  There is no in between.  Your game isn't based in 15th century Saudi Arabia it is based in a fantasy alternate timeline of Saudi Arabia.

If you don't even want to address common, small problems like SPELLING then I can't see this game being anything more than eye candy (and your map work is barely above average at best).  Maybe I'll comment more when you get your act together and address simple criticism but as far as I can tell this project isn't worth my time because you can't take the time to fix it.

Fine then but the reason i said i didn't care about changing the spelling is because i'm going to be rewriting the storyline section later.

I have added a game information section and re-written the storyline section. Hopefully i'll get the new title screen finished later.
