Back in the Day...

I'm one of the older members here at .org compared to some. I joined June 24 of 07', over two tears ago. At the time, the Ccoa|Erk era was coming to an end and coming into the time when TREG stole the kingdom. I was a newbie in every aspect of the RPGM scene, but I really didn't know that myself. The first thing I posted here were two awful mapping tutorials that I was proud of. They got a little bit of negative criticism and I was crushed. Luckily, I didn't give up and I stayed around for a while.

From here, my history is a bit sketchy. I believe TREG left and the community started to quickly fall into a decline. At this point Despain/Solid Bro came in and helped bring the community back on it's feet. This started the era we're currently in, if you want to call it that. My personal history from that point is pretty much all I recall. I spent a good amount of time in the Roleplaying forum in the Sandfall and Penumbra Cielo Roleplays (What can I say, I enjoyed it.), and working with Yivyn on Hero Rental as a mapper (by now I was a great deal better). After Yivyn got banned I kind of stayed off of the forum for a while out of boredom and noobism. I also moved twice in a short period of time so that was a factor.

Eventually, I came back after a few weeks and just spent time generally posting around. Up until now, nothing really notable happened other than Des getting permabanned along with Dissonance. Also, Luminier left.

So here I am. This topic is pretty much for the veteran members of the forum but I guess the newer guys and gals can post if they have anything good to say. What do you guys remember about the old days?

also this administration is considered a completely new chapter--it's almost entirely different from the treg stole the kingdom phase.

so there've been 3 major administration changes, just the third was more gradual and less sudden i guess

Yeah, I've been here since Jan 07, although I used to browse the forums anonymously since October 06, so I guess I could say I've seen quite alot happen, I joined in the middle of Ccoa and Erk's reign of terror, although to be honest, it wasn't TOO bad, except the amount of shitposters and pricks walking around with their cocks out... (Indeed.), and then when TREG took over, I was like "M'kay sure...", and that was when I started making more posts, unfortunately, they weren't all the best posts ever, lol.

When the Despain era came, well, it was a shithole... he was just a genuine prick, so was Disso, I really disliked Disso... terrible times indeed. and I think I got banned once or twice back then too, because I had a slight disliking to the staff (I say disliking, I mean... y'know, genuinely hated some of 'em), however, there were cool members like Arbi then, who would actually HELP people, back when he was actually CALLED Arbiter, lol. Although I can remember when some of the current staff now were plain ol' members, especially Wyatt, oh god I remember when he was promoted to a Mod, happy days indeed, lol.

And now, yeah Ven is absolutely correct, this era of administration/moderationis a new chapter, it's as if we're a whole new community, although I've still had my run-ins with most of the staff here, sometimes on several occassions, I'd say my "RMXP Life" has gone from being the quiet poster in the back, to the cocky bastard who shitposts for fun and gets banned every week, to the guy I am now, I still have a laugh with peoples (Especially in the IRC), and I also offer help if it's within my abilities, yay me, eh ? Oyah, I even got praise off Ven for my improvement, lulz.

So there you have it, my short story of my life in the .org community !

Pfft there have been more than three.

I started on RMRK (still Crankeye at the time, while he himself was still active) and Creation Asylum, in August 2004, after the Battleon forums. Used to leech resources from RMXP.net, until I registered sometime 2004 and then registered again in April 2005 (idk why); from then I've been an RMXP.netter. Lived through Lord Gradient's active days, downfall, the rise of ccoa and mimesong, the change to Erk, the ezine, Treg and Despain stealing the kingdom, DerVVulfman's faggy exodus, Trickster and Sephirothspawn in their prime and then leaving, Teloch trying to reform the site and growing to despise it, Sixty and Ven taking the reigns, shadow trying to grasp power (sheriffshadowTM), Sophist's somewhat quiet and slow takeover, Brew somehow gaining a stake, and Arb getting in.

Plus the various smaller sites spawning in that time - RRR, spongen, etc etc, which were all essentially RM clones, or seemed to be. Mainly because their userbase was RMXP'ers, idk.

Best memories? I dunno. The first ORGy awards were really cool. Wumpi's contests (late last year), pre-shitposter Despain, etc.

Double posting to say that in all the time I've been here, now, right this very minute, is my favourite time, I reckon. We're pretty steady as a site and there are good things in the near future; the staff want to help the site unlike previous times, and well, the general view of the staff is positive, hardly any negative feedback.

My time here's probably been relatively short compared to most staffers here. I started being an active poster in April of '08 and mostly dicked around in PD and RA. Can't say I remember too much of the administration change but I've definitely noticed a change in the atmosphere around here. I think we've opened up a lot more to newer members, too, and been more welcoming. I really remember when it seemed like there was a really tight-knit group (mostly staffers) who didn't acknowledge many other members, and as a newbie I felt really alienated. There were a few times where I thought about just leaving completely but after I posted my project in PD I haven't wanted to leave.

I remember really disliking Despain in the beginning but I actually started to like him a bit during the summer. Then he sort of imploded or something like that and there was that gradual shift from the "TREG" era to the "VenSophBrewShadow" administration we have now.

But yeah. The mood here has improved a lot, I think, and if we could just crack out a website we'd be aces.

I also remember that we used to have:

RRRB board - review board, went really well
Contests board - bad bad
Forum games - bad bad bad bad (well good, but could have been better)

I still think a beginners lounge is the best step forwards.

Well how time flies by... I joined at may 07. So it was the end of the Ccoa/Erk era. Honestly I was in total shock when the forum I just joined seemed to be falling apart.
Gladly it came back to it's feet pretty quickly.
Now I am out of school, started college, got sick and am just sitting at home all day long. So RMXP/HBgames is one of my entertainments. I think the current mods are doing a great job. This is a whole new era and my favourite one so far.

The actual reign of ccoa|jErk I didn't have any problems with, it wasn't like "oh dear I'm going to leave this site because of" or anything, but yeah the end was the problem, when basically people left all over because the admins were... well, not here. Treg bought the site to save it, not to reign with an iron fist for fun.

Eh, well I joined back in July, 2006.
Stayed active but quiet the whole time.
Spent all my time in the Forum Games section, posted almost nothing after that untill about April this year.
And since then Ive still pretty much done nothing.

I must be the most useless active member here......
