I've also noticed without an avatar one tends to go completely unnoticed in a lot of situations, or at least feels that way.
I've noticed this a lot, actually. People without avatars who make topics (especially concept/projects) seem to get less interest than people with avatars for some reason. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I've noticed from the time I've spent in the various forums.

I would come across some of your posts and I can tell that you are well educated based on your diction and syntax (well sometimes it pops up occasionally ;] ). In a way, you are like the Jester from Shakespeare's Tempest; someone who has very deep insights and wisdom, but cannot be taken seriously because of his Jester's attire. I think that people would discover distinct similarities if someone were to juxtapose you and the jester together.
...
Lol, sorry about that, I have a very bad habit of over-analyzing stuff and going off on tangents(After being in AP Literature and Language/Composition, the analytical mindset rubs off. :P).
Anyway, thanks for the kudos Atlet. :)
ooh, do me next

If you have no avatar, there is nothing there to direct your attention, no eye candy, therefore it's not going to be popular. As well, if you have no avatar, this usually means you are a noob, and have not yet figured it out yet.

I dunno. It's easier to tell who the "noobs" are if they have avatars to be honest. Having no avatar takes away all noticability. Like... they could be anyone, anything. Just my view anyway.

I agree with this 1000%. No avatar could mean the person is bland or plain imo

See i think that the avatar reflects the users intrests, thats why users would change their avatars to fit what they are Feeling/ or like

I Tend not to change my avatars as much becuase people know me by only 2-3 avatars, so if i was to change i would probably only change bettween them.

But i guess its a matter of opinion. you cant make somebody instantly like you or think your not a noob just from your avatar. its the way people post that truely reflects that person.

See now avatars like the above have been used so many times that I can't connect them with the person well at all and end up having to look at the name.

yea anime avatars, even if it's from pretty good anime, always screams obscurity of personality to me

game-based av's sometimes too but it depends on the game
the more popular, the less likely you seem to me to have an interesting thing to say

how about the dude.
ive only had avatars of one and the same movie character, though different images
i dont know what that says about me..
the movie doesnt even REALLY appeal to me.
I just, stuck with it, when it came on to me

I'd say it says "Yeah well, that's just your opinion. I know I'm great, and the legions of lurkers know it too."

My new avatar is just for hugeness so I stand out more than the nightgaunt I had before. Also, it's a window.
