Why Pokemon? Seriously I've never understood the fascination.

Have you played the games? I have to answer the question with another question, but it would change the way I give my answer.

I own Red, Yellow and Gold. They just seem redundant. And I know that's a very glib interpretation but that's what it is. You can polish a stone only so much. How does my answer change yours though?

Ooh I got a good one:
What's your real name? You don't have to answer if its too personal. My guess is Steve or Carl.

His name is Sir Evan Cocanoodle. Only one word of these three is true.

Another question. How'd you end up on RMXP?

This certainly does add a human face to the account I hope some of the people that have a stigma attached to your username will see this topic.

What's you're favorite Pokémon?

Impossible to say. I probably should have thought of a different question to put as an example. Drifblim is the first that springs to mind, but there are others.

From a design standpoint, I am a big fan of pokémon that use animals unexpectedly, for example Torkoal, which is a fire-type despite being a turtle, or Heracross, which is a fighting-type beetle. There are some pokémon that I really just adore for reasons that I can't really explain very well: usually these are just some that I find incredibly cute, like Corsola and Natu.

Battle-wise, I really like Venusaur and the role that he can play in a competitive team, and likewise I have recently really begun to like Cradily for the same reason. Shuckle is really cool as a specialty pokémon, and I absolutely love that Mr. Mime is decently powerful while looking so totally goofy. Lanturn has a great type combination that I have used really effectively in past competitive teams as well.

In addition, I love Gyarados if only because he's a staple for me. I've used him in every game, and he becomes the backbone of my team in the single-player main quest, in addition to being my surfer and strengther. I always catch a magikarp early for this reason. Hell, in my first play of blue I bought the magikarp from the guy in in the center by Mount Moon.

Mewtwo is my favorite legendary, and my favorite type in general is Poison.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

I suck, I don't lick.

Without giving me the response of "This forum is for Americans", Why do you insist on abusing any post I make regardless of it having ANYTHING to do with my country?

For the most part, it's a gimmick that a lot of members unfortunately don't seem to get. I'm a pretty patriotic person, and it's become a personality quirk. Whenever I make fun of somebody for not being American, it's almost always a joke, since I don't actually dislike people for such shallow reasons.

Also, Why do you tell GW members that you hate this community then carry on being a mod?

Because I do hate this community, and because I do hate this community. Does that make sense? This place has a lot of potential to improve, and if I'm not in a position of influence and power, it would be difficult to have a hand in pushing this place in the right direction.

Why do you refuse to upload my sponsor badge (that I paid money for) because it has the top of the union jack in it? I had to rely on shadow to do it for me, Isn't that a little pathetic?

I didn't refuse it seriously. I refused it as a joke, and actually had the page open to upload it for you. Your response on irc; something like "fine forget it, I'll ask shadow" was why I didn't bother to finish uploading it. It was a pretty unfortunate misunderstanding, and I'm able to suck it up and apologize for that. I wish you'd told me if you were legitimately upset, it wasn't really pleasant having to find out from shadow.

As an aside: you didn't pay money for a sponsorship tag. You donated money to support the site's hosting, we're not obligated to give any sponsors perks. We're not a for-profit organization, and we're not selling a service. This isn't directed at you particularly, a lot of people seem to be misinformed on this issue.

answer the question without any comical remarks. It's not hard.

I didn't, and I wasn't planning to. Our misunderstanding was one of the reasons I opened this topic to begin with.

I own Red, Yellow and Gold.

Then you have an idea at least that they're solid, good games. The biggest reason, if I had to give one, as to why I like the games is simply because I do. It just really appeals to my tastes. Following that, I can give some other more solid reasons:

  • Replayability. It's possible to play each game multiple times and have a totally different experience, in terms of team-building etc. Some people don't really get it, but it appeals to me since I like being able to shape things. the game feels entirely different, for example, when you dump your starter as soon as you can and raise a equally-leveled, well-rounded team, than if you were to rely on an overpowered Blaziken for the entire game. But the choice is totally up to you.
  • Lore and design. The Pokémon world is a great setting, and the concept of pokémon really just has amazing potential. There's so much depth to things that is only barely hinted at in the games themselves, and I really like being able to expand upon all the little facets and details that lots of people are obvlious to.
  • The competitive game. Really, if you don't much about the Pokémon metagame, I'd suggest you look into it. It's probably one of the best, if not the best multiplayer games there is. The amount of depth and strategy required when playing against other experienced human beings is phenomenal.

What's your real name?

Jason Perry.

hut of brown, ____________?

now sit down

I didn't even need the multiple choices for that one.

also what university do you go to/your major? Ive always wondered that about you.

Southern Connecticut State, and I'm currently majoring in English. I originally wanted to be a high school teachers, but after taking an introductory course, I learned how little control teachers have these days, and how horribly strict curriculum is, to the point where teachers don't even have much freedom to plan their own lessons or teaching style. It was a big turn-off for me, even though I would still like to teach someday. For the time being, it's going to be a straight English degree, even though there's realistically not much I could do with it.

How big is your penis

It's pretty small, I don't know the exact length because I haven't measured it in a long time. But I'm pretty open about this. I came to terms with my small dick a long time ago, and I'm actually sort of proud of the fact that I freely admit to it. A lot of guys are insecure about that kind of thing.

Another question. How'd you end up on RMXP?

The program or this website?

actually this is a bit of a serious question that i SHOULD technically know the answer to but don't because you ran away for like two years and you're a giant boof

can you list every name you can recall that you've used in the rm* community? not necessarily in order, but i'd like to know.

also some guy named RHETORIC i think invaded #slackdev ages ago that was you right

Wow, Despain, you're my new hero. You just openly admitted to the world that you're ... well ... how do I put this ... Under-Qualified? This has put a whole new definition on what It means to be a man. Thanks for taking one for the proverbial "team".

Now for the question. When will Geredreth Advance be finished? or is it Geredreth M?

BTW, Handsome Lamb's a Perv.

can you list every name you can recall that you've used in the rm* community? not necessarily in order, but i'd like to know.

Hardest one in the topic, by far.

Names that are/were obviously me:
EvincarOfEarth
Evincar
Evega
Evega Karr
Ev
Ionem
Geredreth
Despain
DeSpaigne
Serenade
Rhino Cap

Names that I used for joke/dupe accounts (I'm sure there are others that I forget):
Cortez
SpyderChrysanthemum
PlayBill
Rhetoric (this answers your second question)
Double Clawshot
lake michigan
screamingNaruto
Solid Bro
corporate @merica
VigilantePunishment

Note that this list doesn't include name changes, but are primary names that I've used. Things like my current "Missingno" aren't counted for that reason.

Now for the question. When will Geredreth Advance be finished? or is it Geredreth M?

The Advance is finished, you mean the gM. And it's impossible to say. It's actually really close, and it's been hovering in this state for a few weeks now. I've hit a serious block.

Awesome Bro

For the most part, it's a gimmick that a lot of members unfortunately don't seem to get. I'm a pretty patriotic person, and it's become a personality quirk. Whenever I make fun of somebody for not being American, it's almost always a joke, since I don't actually dislike people for such shallow reasons.

I'm too very patriotic so do you see why you annoy the shit out of me when you make remarks about England? You don't like England, I don't like America, Keep it at that and leave the remarks out. I don't have the urge to just scream abuse at your country, I'm usually provoked. So if you don't say anything and I don't say anything, we won't have a problem.

Because I do hate this community, and because I do hate this community. Does that make sense? This place has a lot of potential to improve, and if I'm not in a position of influence and power, it would be difficult to have a hand in pushing this place in the right direction.

It does make sense and it's admirable. Especially because I enjoy coming to this community. But lately that has been quite the opposite and it's usually because of your actions. But the main reason for that has been stated above and doesn't need further discussion. I personally don't have any issues with the current community, but that's just my opinion.

I still don't see why you have to publicly make a mockery of the forum to other communities, that's a bit off colour.

I didn't refuse it seriously. I refused it as a joke, and actually had the page open to upload it for you. Your response on irc; something like "fine forget it, I'll ask shadow" was why I didn't bother to finish uploading it. This one I strongly disagree with. I asked you to upload it and you rudely refused as it displays the Union Jack. I then asked Teloch after you went idle and his/her response was the same. You then came back and continued to refuse upload, and AGAIN went on to abuse my country.

I'm open for second chances, and you didn't take it. Why should I give you a third chance if all you're going to do is blow it up in my face again? I can trust shadow to just do it without question, why can't you be the same?

Making the community better also includes admins doing their job properly. To me, this is a prime example of the opposite.

I didn't, and I wasn't planning to. Our misunderstanding was one of the reasons I opened this topic to begin with.

Opening this topic was a great idea as it publicly brings the issues we clearly have to the rest of the community. At no point do I expect anyone to care, it's just something we can come back to if these things persist.

i offered afterwards and you said NO FORGET IT ILL JUST HAVE SHADOW DO IT. don't drag me into your shit, chico.

$t3v0, I answered your questions, and I answered them clearly and truthfully. Anything else I have to say would be redundant. This isn't a topic for debate.

Making the community better also includes admins doing their job properly.

Agreed, which is why I demoted myself. I explained this in my answer to another question above.

The website.

I've been an active member in the overall RM* community for a long time, since 2001 if I recall correctly. I've had an account on pretty much every major RPG Maker forum, and I've been regularly active on a good number of them. When RMXP.net opened up, I naturally joined there as well. Since I was using RMXP, and lots of other forums were still pretty 2K/3-centric, I became pretty active here. The rest pretty much follows up naturally from there.

did you really ever expect the rEVolution to work? or take place at all?

You know the answer to this. At the time, I had big hopes for it, and I wouldn't have acted the way I had if I wasn't serious about it. I expected that it would work and I expected that it would be some great glorious thing as time went on, but obviously looking back now, the entire thing is a giant joke.

Despain,

Being an utter philistine of the game making community at large, I've kind of wondered why this place has such a bad rep.  I theorize that perhaps this place seems to attract more younger teenagers than the other game making sites.  Would you consider the maturity of the user-base to be the issue?  I work with teens all day, so teenage drama and naivety don't bother me very much, but I can imagine a mid twenty something who works and plays all day with other adults to be off put by it.  How far off am I on that?

BTW this isn't to say there aren't teenagers on here who are by and large more mature than some of the "adults" or most of the adults.

:boo: BOO!!! :boo:
Did I scare you?

For reals though, people often cite the current administration - or is it now the most previous administration? - as being corrupt.  A collection made up of partly trolls and their circle jerk buddies.
What is your opinion, and why, of insinuations like this?

Man, you stole this from me.  I was gonna open up a BAW advice column called Ask Sixty in NFG or someplace.

tbh we ARE trolls and thier circlejerk buddies it just doesn't affect evvie's ability to run a site. If anything it makes him more qualified when it comes to dealing with other trolls.

What's worse for a story: over cencored no-blood disney deaths or KILL EVERYONE WITH MORE BLOOD THAN BODIES SHOULD ACTUALLY HOLD JUST FOR SHOCK VALUE?

That, I can answer ... They want us to get comfortable with their new identities so they can learn our most intricate and personal secrets and then exploit them for Filthy Lucre. Thus rendering our already useless lives obsolete.

Yes. This place really is, for the most part, really immature as a whole. Not so much in general behavior, but in tastes, style, etc. And, well... I guess it is in the behavior too.

It's hard to sum it up, but it's really evident all over the forum. If we still had the forum games subforum, I'd just link you to that and say "take a look for yourself". Now, there'sa big equivalent in the NFG forum, which was intended to serve as a spammy outlet that didn't have the same level of... general stupidity as Forum Games. It doesn't display the same sort of immaturity that's hard to tolerate, but one that's probably even worse. If you look at some of the posts in NFG, a lot of members have a hard time telling what's a joke and what's not. It's the same reason our April Fools' prank failed, even though we put a lot of thought into it. Kids have a hard time understanding what's a joke.

A lot of it comes when members perceive that they're being flamed or insulted when they're not. A lot of members here simply cannot take constructive criticism, and as a result, a lot of members don't give it. It's one of the major problems, most other serious RM* forums view this place as a joke to serious game makers, if only because nine times out of ten, you'll receive blind, shallow praise and nothing really helpful. And as an extension of that, this community has very low standards for a good game, a good resource, etc.

I work with teens all day, so teenage drama and naivety don't bother me very much, but I can imagine a mid twenty something who works and plays all day with other adults to be off put by it.  How far off am I on that?

It's not really the age that matters- there are some members here that are really young and pretty cool, and then there are some people that are into their thirties and forties that sometimes act worse than the twelve-year-olds. I'd attribute it more to "internet" age, if that makes sense. For a lot of people, this is their first forum, and because of that they don't have the "internet maturity" to act properly here.

Why do you and Teloch and Wumpi have to confuse us with your avatars and names?

The confusion isn't intentional. It's not hard to see who is who.
