Art Thread of Doom!

Awesome Bro

Thanks lol, but yeah as bacon says, look at trees and how they divide... look at my picture for reference if you like, although it's not the best, it does display what he's talking about, just don't go overboard and carry on splitting until one branch end up having a bazillion little ones off it, lol

I can't recommend even attempting to paint with a mouse. I did many years ago, before I even knew what a tablet was, but nothing I did could get much further than extreme-cartoony. A mouse simply is not designed to have as much control or precision (your hand certainly cannot be very precise while holding it the way you're supposed to hold it), and is not designed to change in pressure (which is EXTRAORDINARILY important).

Sound like a plan :D
They're pretty awkward to start though. You gotta get used to them...
I tried to use one, but I had so many issues with it...

That's probably the best one you could start out on :)

Once you get the hang of it, and some extra cash laying around, move up to an Intuos -- they have leagues greater sensitivity & tilt control. Would probably be too much for someone who's just starting and has never used one. It's not like using a pencil & paper, though it looks like it. You have to get the hang of brush settings, holding it a certain way to make the pressure levels graduate smoothly, and the concept of drawing while looking at a screen (instead of what your hand's doing).

I was impossibly frustrated with mine for a few months, but once I got the hang of it, I don't even really like pencil+paper anymore :)

Well I remember before autumm 2010 I were using a mouse to colour, been doing that since 2004 and I was able to pull off diffrent kind of colourings. But getting a table really saved alot of work!
Before for exemple when I was going to make skin if I wanted something else than toonshade, oh boy.... It took me average 8 hours to finish a picture back then! now the average is 2 - 3 hours with a table.
If you want to see some things I did with a mouse you can check here http://ellenortangfelt.allyou.net/305622?mode=edit
On 2D artwork on the reel below that says before 2010.

So you can colour with a mouse but a table save alot of work and also you don't need to learn weird technique to make something that would be simple with a table.

Haha no I never really went much into drawing with mouse, I always drawed my characters on paper, scanned lined and coloured. But now I use table for everything. (thank god!)

Too scared to shade in SAI without knowing what I'm doing. XD

Did you change ya name? Swear it didn't have x's 0.o

Anyway, that looks very cool! One issue is the thumb, I feel its pointing up too far.
