you know this is really based off of cryptoghraphy anyways since teh db for phpbb uses md5 (or is it sha1?)

just so you know, there are a million and one other ways to hack a forum. the ones listed in the quote aren't the only methods of hacking. exploits are available to the public for one of two reasons; 1. faggots leaked a new method out making it available for everyone to see including security techs, so they fix it and stop it working; 2. it was discovered by techs and or common bug testers and fix it and release the method to the public to show how and what they did, just because the method is not found by googling or checking on well known sites such as milw0rm does not mean there aren't any methods available.

open source > closed source still. a whole community develops phpbb, look at the exploits available for phpbb3

thanks for informing me. and if you catch people who dont update phpbb, it is how it works. gain access to shell via web through Remote File Injection or SQL Injection where something effects the database directly such as a topic id which is passed directly to the sql database in viewtopic.php. at least im looking.
devs create the exploits you download phpbb and look.
A moderator could do it.

Aside from the theme saying Black Box, and the annoying music, I am not really bothered that much.

I am still glad that some of the threads are still here... but no matter how many times you hack, there are numerous backups that will be restored, and you will still be overthrown by that, unless you have managed to hack into the server account itself.

But for someone to hack a site, you must be a real geek, really... you have to be someone with no job, or a lot of time on your hands. If you were truly genius, you would've just hacked into Venetia's computer itself, rather than a forum that will soon be back to the way it were. To be fair, you are probably just an immature, fat, spotty, ugly, freak, wearing huge milk bottle glasses, who at the age of 19 has still yet to experience puberty, and has been beaten up that much that rather than just dying and committing suicide to end his lonesome, miserable, sorry life, has to take it out on someone else like a scared, cowardly bully, hiding behind a computer because he is too afraid to face people properly.

EDIT: In fact the worst thing you could do, was make yourself admin, change the theme and the homepage... any real hacker would've brought down the site beyond all state of repair. You ain't a hacker, you are a FAIL!
