To be fair, the guy in the video did get irate fairly quickly. At *any* border, people will randomly be questioned with specifics that are seen in the video. If you are entering a country you are not a citizen of, they want to know the specifics of a trip, down to every detail. It shows that you are entering for a reason. If a surveying officer notices anything strange, such as the guy laughing off the question when he said he didn't know, it is his job to hand it off to the next level.

They obviously knew the guy wasn't a threat to US security, and they obviously checked his car for contraband. That is why he was given so many chances and actually treated decently by the second officer. Does it suck that they had to go to the next level? Yeah. Unfortunately, the other alternative is open racial profiling, and that will not fly.

Though I will say that if he were Mexican, he could have entered the country illegally and saved himself plenty of time.

I'm more pissed off by the fact that they're apparently allowed to do anything they want without giving reasons for it. Nobody should be given that sort of control. Like, I know 1984 comparisons get thrown around very liberally so I'm not about to go all Orwell here, but with protests erupting all across the US and seeing the ways that the police are given absolute control over everything... it's infuriating.

I'm pretty sure that "I'm going to this *mall* at *address* and going shopping" is a specific reason! I very rarely know what stores I'm going to when I go to malls, and I'm sure most people are the same way. Do we have to tell them what time we plan on taking a shit? At what exact minute and location I am going to have to sneeze?

in any situation, whenever you give power to anyone, you run a risk of some of the empowered people abusing their power.
especially when the people you're giving this power to are often just barely high school graduates, usually with a giant chip on their shoulder and a newfound sense of extreme pride that comes with a badge and a host of issued weapons.
it is unfortunate.

do i agree with the AMOUNT of power police have?
yes and no.

for the majority of police activity, police have to deal with lowlifes and scum and potentially dangerous, wildcard people.
if they do not have adequate means to protect themselves, then they cannot do their jobs effectively.

"boy's clubs" and power abuse happen, and that is shitty. all we can do is try to stay informed and punish those who go too far.

Banned episode of cow and chicken. I hated this show, but honestly I had never heard the term "carpet muncher" until I was in college. I made some girls uncomfortable when I asked what a carpet muncher was. Sounded like an alcoholic beverage to me. Like it'll make you so drunk you'll wake up the next morning on the floor.

Edit: NVM there really is a cocktail called a carpet muncher.

Awesome Bro

... You hated Cow and Chicken?

I'm sorry but we can no longer be friends...

Cow and Chicken was literally my childhood, along with Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, I Am Weasel/I R Baboon, and Ed, Edd n' Eddy

Pretty much. I watched a lot of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, too.

It was never really on much over here, I mean, it WAS on tele, but only later on at like 10pm for some reason, all the cartoons I watched were between like 3-7pm, so just after I got home from school, which was great timing.
