Your favorite *NEW* bands and/or solo artist. Who makes your list?

What are your favorite new bands. From any types, from any country, mainstream to underground, Who makes your list? I'm curious, I would like to know whats your top 5, your top 7, whateverYOU CAN EVEN GO BY LESS SH*TY :thumb:. And if you can, add some liltle bio for your choices, why you digg them and how you found out about them.

EDIT: Maybe you would like to say that the scenes are shit right now, or you don't listen to music that much are that you like the beatles and Frank Sinatra, it's cool with me, but please not here, keep the thread subject in mind. Some topics talk about that, please don't flood this one .

Lets see...
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE,
Blood Stain Child,
Avenged Sevenfold,
Protest the Hero,
AC/DC,
Metallica,
Dope,
Blink 182,
Lords of Acid,
Panic! At the Disco,
The Doors,
and so on.

There all awesome, thats why I like them so much.
Besides the fact that, I like to hop around like a monkey when I listen to heavy music, it's lots of fun ^-^

none of those are new???

what exactly constitutes a "new" band?

(btw i don't like *ANY* really new popular bands. i think they all sound like pieces of shitgrass. and i dont listen to indy music because all i bother to use is a radio.)

-I think it's to anyone to decide but maybe just a few singles and/or a debut album in the last 12 months, or maybe no albums.

-Venetia and others please do not answer if you have nothing to propose please. I get you but I really want the post to be in sync with the thread subject.

Ok cool, but well, half are at least far from new.

I'm allowed to post my opinions just like everyone else. Pretend I put up a list. It's just blank. Just because I think music nowadays is crappy isn't stepping on any toes for anyone else to say what they think.

Anyway, mostly I just wanted you to establish a time limit on "newness", so thanks.

i agree... never thought i would, newer music nowadays sucks. Nothing nowadays compare to the beatles and what not. But really... the only good band thats from like the last 5 years or so are rise against

everyone who claims 'new music isnt as good as old music' doesn't do enough to expose themselves to new music.

i can't even name a band that was established less than a year ago, and is worth mentioning. that's a remarkably small time-frame.

there have been a few bands within the last 5 years or so which have been pretty decent. but within the last year all I've seen is balls.

and anyway i already stated that i only listen to the radio so my opinions are only on popular music (popular enough to be on the radio anyway).

from the communities I come from one year is a remarkably long timeframe for "new", then again I am cooler than everyone else here

basically what Ven said is very much true, so I dig deeper into awesomo new music and actually listen to good new music (lolol indie kid speaking here), popular music is always very hit and miss, and even when it's a "hit" it gets overplayed to the point where it becomes unbearable. That's the UK though, we do get a decent portion of good music on the mainstream stations (though me being me I've already known about it moooonths beforehand because I am so obscure and cool like that), idk what the situation is like in the US but I hear it's pretty grim so I can understand why a lot of people here don't like the new music the stations play.

whoever said "you don't get bands like the Beatles anymore" - lol. There was a lot of dump in the 60s like there is now but the difference is it's all been forgotten about so you don't hear it, much in the way that the dump you hear nowadays will be forgotten about in the future. Comparing new music to the BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD is a terrible argument anyway.

my favourite musical decade was the 1980s but there is a good supply of decent "new" bands nowadays, cba to list them though because it's not like anyone here would listen to them

OKi ok, lets switch the 1 year period to five years to make it more broad.

some of my choices

#10 - Malajube
#11 - Tokyo Police Club
#14 - Black Kids ( to much hype! christ!!! they are not so great, second coming of THE CURE my a**, but they are good)
#15 - Yelle
#22 - You Say Party! We Say Die!
#41 - Bitches Bitches ya ya ya
#44 - Payzplay

Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos

aren't the record company like forcing them to release an album of pop stuff and then they're releasing the album they want to release themselves? I read that somewhere. Either way I like this band

Black Kids were fucking boss on their EP but when they started redoing the tracks they sounded awful, the album is really average and there's nothing new on it, annoyed because they had so much potential. I like most of the other bands you put up, the cutesiness of Yelle's vocals espesh, but Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya is waste, only good thing from her output is the Yuksek and Brodinski mix of Fuck Friend and that's only because Yuksek and Brodinski are genii

Would it be accurate to say it's somewhat former Suede guitarist, Bernard Butler, fault. Maybe I'm being to indulgent but I mean their EP made me so happy. This is why i didn't put them it the top 10 but didnt drop them in to the top 30. My folks like Listen To Your Body Tonight cuz it reminds them of "Take Your Time" from SOS, yuck to disco for me, gosh they're so old.

another kick ass band (still really new - second album-ish)

As Tall As Lions  (listen to the song "Ghosts of York")

my school booked them two years back, still heavily underground.  nicest guys in the world.

man i haven't heard of half of these bands.  great place to find new music

EDIT:  If you're into acoustic stuff, check out a canadian guy named Craig Cardiff.  good shieeet
