I always thought of the whole "favourite band" thing to be kind of weird, but after discovering Oceansize, I've had a change of heart. Modern Progressive Rock at its finest in my opinion. Diverse without losing their sound, technical without being hard to follow, atmospheric, deep, heavy, everything I love about music meshed together basically. There are times where all of the members are playing different things at the same time and you can just sit back and take it all in. Check 'em out for sure.

Have you heard the new album? I think it's their best one, i love it :D
Them Crooked Vultures are great too, it's a mix of Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl), QOTSA (Josh Homme) and Led Zeppelin (John Paul Jones).

He's been really under the radar for the last 20 years or something. His latest two albums however have been making a big impression on the rap scene. They're part of a trilogy of conceptual albums, in which he takes the role an upcoming rapper who kills and eats his competition (and just people in general). He takes on the name The Coathanga Strangla, since he likes to strangle his victims with metal coat hangers. It's different, but if you think of it as more of a horror movie told through song, it's the best shit ever.
