xbox 360 and ethernet

ok hey.

i can't get onlin with my 360. wireless is out of the question since the way things are set up while i'm here at school. i have an ethernet cord that is how i get online on my computer. the first day i had my xbox i went online just fine (i downloaded braid etc). but now suddenly i can't!!!

the other day my roomate was a fucking idiot and tripped on my cord and pulled it out of my computer. it works fine in my computer but i'm wondering if it ight be slightly amaged or something

basidally i am saying HEY IS MY ETHERNET CORD BROKEN and XBOX IS MJUST SUPERSENSITIVE To broken cords since my computer doesnt have too much of a problem with it. or might it be something else.

the problem i get when trying to connect is that it just doesn't recognize that the cord is even plugged into it.

Ethernet cables are pretty sensitive to being bent and tugged, however you should be picking up a signal on your XBOX if you're picking up a signal on the PC as that is managed by a single wire that doesn't have anything to do with actual data transmission IIRC. I would borrow a different cable and plug it into your XBOX to see what happens, or if you happen to have a friend who works in the lab at your school or something they'll have an ethernet cable tester they can check it with real quick.

That's strange, I have never had a problem like that and my cord has been yanked out of my xbox so many times.

If nothing works, I would ship it off to mircosoft. When mine broke I simply sent it off and they fixed it within a month for free. I'm not sure if they would attempt to fix something like that but hey it's worth a shot? Sorry don't know how else to help ya.

Well, is the school blocking whatever ports the Xbox uses?

I don't think that this is a possibility because the connection test gives me an error in the stage where it's detecting a connection.

If they have the XBOX connection ports blocked by silently dropping incoming signals that would be the result. Try grabbing a port scanner, looking up the xbox ports, and then scanning those ports on your gateway from your PC.
