X-files: I Want to Believe

There mustn't be any x-philes out there for there not to be a post already....

What is it about? Why does it look so similar to the first movie?  Does it take place in Antarctica also?

Here's how I think it'll go down, based on the ridiculously vague trailers (which is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7TNINZ_Q78)

Mulder: Scully I love you.
Old guy: I SEE ALIENZ
Mulder: Scully we gotta go.
Scully: But I'm not an FBI agent anymore!
Mulder: Too bad, we're going over there!
               Meanwhile, over there
Bad guy: Mulder's coming. Damn. 
             Uh, nothing to see here!
Scully: See, there's nothing to see, let's go.
             Scully almost dies.
Scully: omg i almost died.
Old guy: I SAVED YOUUUUUUUUUU
Mulder: It's over there! The thing!
Scully: No it's not.
           Scully gets kidnapped.
Scully: OMG
Mulder: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Old guy: OVER THARE, ROWSDOWER SAVES YOUUUU
Scully: O hai guys.  OH LOOK ALIENZ
         Mulder almost dies.
Mulder: I feel like I inhaled something vaguely dusty and disgusting.
USA: WE DENY ALL EVIDENCE THAT THIS EVER HAPPENED.
The end.

Yes, but that was Final Fantasy VII, not a shitty ass movie based with FF in the title.

Doesnt matter though cause AC was garbage anyway.

I haven't seen it yet; I'll probably see it within the week, regardless of reviews.  So far it seems to be pretty hit or miss, some of my friends loved it, and some hated it.  I'm somewhat disappointed;  I was hoping it would be a solid movie among the fans at least, but I guess without the alien story line that would be hard to do.

It's true. The movie was kind of boring, the only "supernatural" element being that old guy, and even that was debatable. Essentially, the movie had very little to do with the X-files story and was kind of a stand alone thing, that I'm sure you could understand without having watched one episode of the x-files

i heard it was an alright movie on its own but if you're an x-files X-PERT (SEE WHAT I DID THERE I'M WITTY), then it's not really with the time.

and i'm an x-pert so i think i'll just wait for it to come on TBS and then watch it while i cook dinner or something.

I actually kind of loved this movie!

I think people, even x-files fans, completely ignore at least one half of the series.

X-Files is divided into Main-line conspiracy episodes, and "Monster of the week" episodes.

If you look at the first game and movie, they were both main-line conspiracy plots. The second game, and the second movie are both monster of the week plots.

Monster of the week plots don't necessarily need to have supernatural stuff, or even monsters in them.

Anyway, I'm the sort who prefers the monster of the week plots, and I thought the movie was all sorts of kick-ass. The fact that there were no aliens is the point of these things. You get OMG SMOKING MAN, then you jump to OMG THE HILLS HAVE EYES.

I know, the commercials kind of made us think there would be aliens. Especially the "It's here! It's here" line, which when you see the movie...is not a very exciting scene really.

And after all this I....still haven't seen the movie.  :/

On a related note, I LOVE monster of the week episodes!
