:tongue2:

So heres the short version of the story...

i`ve been using RPGM since 5th grade...(i`m 9th now) and i always had cool stories!

never really been professional till my last RMXP project, which it`s intro took 20minutes less or more.

I stopped that project and started a VX project.

Now i find myself totally ideas-less!!

i`ve been fooling around for three days and all i got is:
a)Very smart event crap(one map)
b)Rocks trail (when you need to push rocks to make your path out...)

AND I GOT STUCKED!!

IDEAS PLEASE!!! :pissed: :pissed:      :dead:

There isn't really a definite way to get ideas.  There are techniques you can use, which I'll list a few of below, but each person gains inspiration from different sources.

  • Free Writing
If your mind is busy with other thoughts, you should try this technique.  Just grab a piece of paper and a pen and start writing whatever you're thinking.  As thoughts run through your mind, write them down.  Do this for about five minutes and you'll probably get out whatever is bothering you.  It has the same general effect as a diary or journal, but it's much more random.
  • Play, Read, or Watch
Staring at a screen usually won't result in any new ideas.  Pick up a game, book, or movie.  It can be your favorite one or one you've never heard of before.  From whatever you've seen, pick one thing that you really liked and try to incorporate it into a game.
  • Just Start
This is sort of what you're doing right now.  Just start making your game.  Create the story as you go along, and when you have a good idea, you can go back and change some things.  I've done this a couple of times and I've come up with some pretty unique ideas, so you may want to give it a try.

Good luck, and happy game making! :thumb:

Well, it really depends on your creative process. I tend to finish the grand majority of the plot first, before even opening up the editor, but others are perfectly content to have the story just pour from their fingers onto the program, the lucky bastards.
Anyways, as Guardian said, inspiration is key. Find something that inspires you, then find another thing, then another. If you like to read, read five or six good books, then just kinda jump off of them as a starting point.

Free writing is also quite good, but it's better to have some sort of inspiration first.

Free writing is more of a way to free your mind of anything that's bothering you.  It really depends on why you're unable to come up with good ideas.  If other things are popping up in your head, free writing before working on something can be helpful.  Ultimately, finding inspiration is the best option, but it can also take the longest.

OK, I'm just getting all confuzzled now. Maybe turn it INTO a topic ABOUT writer's block? IMO that seems the best thing for this thread, since the OP's question is already answered.

Can't we just leave it in General Support?  If the OP's question has been answered, then the thread is done.  We don't need to try to keep it alive if we don't need to, and someone can always start a separate topic about writer's block.

I'm gonna go clean up the MOVED topics since it's back here.

if you don;'t know what the forums are FOR, then you shouldn't be a mod.

if this kind of bullshit continue (moving shit BACVK AFTER I'VE PUT IT WHERE IT BELONGS), i'm going to seriously fire you faggots
