I think I didnt articulate that well reading back, it made theocracies seem mongoloid which was unintentional. I'll just say nations like the US and Russia and China became what they did through willpower and body power, and a more religiously focused regime would have issue with treating half it's nation, essentially, like slaves toward any end, even if it resulted in creating a superpower. Because those who are religiously bound and opressed are less likely to stand for it than people opressed with nothing to turn to(such as Stalin era Russians, or American slaves) since any article of such would be destroyed. As for China, they simply 'silence' any movement before it can gain ground and a large part of that is abolishing religion, because with religion comes hope in even hopeless situations. Its why communism in practice works so well for gaining power, and also why its morally aprehensable.
