[WIP] Spacecraft

This is something I'm working on for the intro to my game. It's an Imperial Aquila Lander. Originally they should have a single pilot but I've opted to add a second pilot to give the ship a greater scale so when I do any interior shots they can be a bit less cramped.
I'm not much of a spriter so I'm thinking of re-creating the ship as if I were drawing it and they using HK sprites as the crew.
This is my 'attempt' at large scale spriting. It's only WIP and I'd be appreciative of any C&C.

In-game the whole white background is covered by a starscape which slowly scrolls upwards giving the impression that the ship is moving through space. I still have to add battle damage and the gun on the front. The rivets are gonna give me problems I think, Though I might Photoshop them in afterwards.

This is the model I'm working my references from..

I've darkened my pilots uniform and made a standing marine, I have to add Flak armour plates to the standing marine still, thats why there isnt much detail in his chest area. I'm considering changing the colour of the pilots unifor to match that of the marines.. any thoughts?

Really nice start, I like the linework and there's a lot of potential. Are you going to add the rust/damaged texture from the model? I think that really gives it some flavor.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.

CUTE!

Okay I seriously think I have something wrong with me, I think pixel art is the cutest thing ... Sigh

I really like how you're carefully outlining everything. My only gripe right now would be that it looks like you're using the Blur or Blend tool in some spots. Otherwise, keep going! :'D

I do like it, yes yes, this -will- look cool when it's completely finished, and when there's finished characters inside and there's some sort of an interior and...

Well, I like it, and I agree that that bit of rustyness or at least somewhere a bit of damage/sign of usage could make it look fuller.

Yeah I'm using blur/burn/dodge on the craft. I can't for the life of me dither :/ This is really my first attempt at something this big (and futuristic).
Little update: I added the pilots. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9679 ... lotly4.png[/img]
Yeah I'm using blur again :/

I had no idea what that grey thing was on his face until I looked at the reference pic. I think you should make it darker. Also, the straps on the front of his body look too light, perhaps making them darker as well?

More ageing on the spacecratf, and we're in for something fantastic.

That is looking awesome so far! I'm loving the great HK sized stuff that is coming out on this forum. The ship will need a bit more texture, but, very nicely done. They angle is perfect. I don't like the color you've choosen for the window, but otherwise, two thumbs up!

Are you going to animate the engine fans?

Animated engine fans.. Hadn't even thought of that one. I'm gonna have to go reference some aircraft engines, they spin all wierd if i remember.

The window colour is just a darkish blue with opacity turned down, the pink in the bg is just a holder til I get around to the cockpit.

The colours of the pilots jacket iare too similar, and seem to be pillowshaded a bit. Great work though. Is this for your project?

The design is great! I can't say I'm a fan of the shading, though. I think with a little more white shines emphasizing the material of the spaceship, it would look even better.

This is GREAT work.
