I can help you with this, I should probably make a tutorial but I could edit this image and show you what to do with it. ^^

Do I have permission to edit this image for you?

ok I edited it ^^ I just did some quick shading, but basically I did what you did but I used a softer brush and well if you want to understand better you can message me on MSN or something. ^^

It looks great. Thanks for the pointers.
But most of my art has more of a shaper edge, not really blended y'know?
I'll uh, I don't know, post an edited version in a few.

:) I like your art style, it's very dramatic and emotional or at least that's what I seem to feel come off the image is intensity in these emotions. The lines seem to tell their own story and add to the final product, It reminds me of this one show that comes on Cartoon Network that I can't remember the name of right now, but was a very good show. :P Can't wait to see more :)

@Soggy Thankyoo very much =] {your rendition of my picture reminds me of an amazon woman :D}
Okay I blended some and added more shade, though still I'm not sure where to go with the hair, maybe I should add... some... more defining lines, eh I'll just experiment.

I think I know what you're trying to get to now, I'll get online and make an example of what I think you're trying to do tomorrow, right now I gotta get some sleep. ^^

Night night and good luck with your experimenting :)

ok, the body, youre surprisingly simple shading on the body portion looks quite good, you were able to put just the right amount and touches in the right spots, as for the hair, i think you need to rethink your method there, try and look at some reference, google image search wigs or something to try and find a good example with lighting similar to what youre going for and try and get the darks and lights in the right spots

So here's my experiment I loooked up wigs on google and found they had more of a sheen/shiny finish.

I could go somewhere with this, so Improvement or not?

i would say yed thats an improvement, now you need to add shadow, you have the highlights in what seem to be the right place.

go thru, and add the shadowed parts, and try to keep it all clean like you did on the body, the body itself could use a little bit of highlights, mainly to accent the stomach, like the top half of the abs, and some highlighting on the top side of the breasts to give her a little more volume to kind of make her body feel less flat.

to add a couple things i noticed.

-light source isnt consistent for the hair and body
-on her collar bones, you need to drop the shadow down a bit because its dark in a place where the highlight should be, so drop that shadow down and give her a highlight where the collar bone is

looking better, the slight highlights on the body really gave it that finishing touch it needed, i like the way you did the tail? wouldnt that technically be a tail on a mermaid, you know, the whole no legs fish tail thing? anyway, the pink part lol. that came out well.

little bit more work on the hair and i think you got it pegged for the style youre going with, could use a bit darker shadow in parts, for example, under her left arm, where the hair hand behind her armpit, also along the right side of her face, little more dark on the inside edge there, to kinda make it pop

Thankyou. Yeah I don't know tail? Or would you call it fins/fin? oh well anyway thanks for the comments it really helps.
I shall work on it and post it in a while! =3
