[WIP][CH] Spriting from scratch

Well, its been a good few weeks since I've attempted any original sprites, but I recently look over a couple tutorials and managed to get one frame of a character done from scratch, unlike my old franken-sprites. Again, here goes nothing:

Hell it's pretty good in my opinion. The pants though could use a better technique of shading and more contrast, it's almost pillow shaded. I love how you've done the jacket, great work, and nice use of dithering on the hat.

Oh and shade his forehead, where the hair covers the skin.

I think it looks great. Except, what is that blue thing on his hat supposed to be? Is it supposed to be a highlight or part of the design?

This is a good start but as Dro said the pants should be done differently. I think you should um make the bottom of the pants roll over the top over the shoe. Not have a slope. And maybe get the baggage on the legs at the same level. But it does look nice. Cant wait to see it finished. ^_^ ~enjoi

It looks GREAT, Flamerfox! My only real complaint is with the outlines: you may wish to have some points on the sprite have slightly lighter outlines, as, at the moment, there are some places where it looks a bit odd (the pants, for instance).

Finished these up a day or two ago, just recently uploaded. Please keep in mind I'm posting these for feedback, not for public use. I've made it specifically for my game, and should I catch a fool using it, thy head shalt be my dinner.

Though Flamerfox is actually forcing me to post at gunpoint, i have to say that i like his sprite. Even though he hits me whenever i say one of a list of at least 800 phrases with a heavy book =].

The guns not loaded and the book is hollow. Nobody heard nothin' about a hostage. Anyways, anybody got any criticism on them? Anything that could be improved?

Okay, it still looks a lot like the RTP... But starting it from scratch is a very good start on your way to becoming a great spriter!
