[WIP]Breeze IsoMetric

try both versions with a iso 8 dir movement script and you'll see what i mean

i mean put both the 45 and 23 degree angled walls onto a map as a test and see which one the sprite moves parralell with.

Whats the point of an iso wall that the character cant even walk parallel to?

typical 8 dir movement script is not an isometric movement script. the first one works in 45 degree and the last in 30 i believe. I say keep the second version.

I'll submit eboy proves that the traditional isometric view looks better... But again I say it will look stupid for a character to move at a different version of diagonal to the one you're saying using...

This is cool, but is there even an iso breeze template out there?
nope, thats y in my first post i requested if anyone can attempt one, if not i can try -.-
and i can't work on this much cause helping make a cms, and its finals week so alot of testing plus going to mexico for 2 weeks on friday >.<,

but work is being made!

-Bump/DP .-.

added a new tileset, recolored the house to look more modern-ish, and ripped a roof off some game, as a temp roof
added a WIP iso breeze character too, tell me what u think about it

It's nice so far, but i've noticed something odd about isometric scripts. None move at a 30 degree angle. They all have movements at 45 degree angles.

I already said this before. Isometric is a 45 degree tile angle.

Here is a classic example of Isometric formula. A (somewhat, looks a bit off, but w/e) 45 degree vanishing point on the box at an overlook view.

By 30 degree angle I believe he may be speaking of the camera angle, but even then that is higher than 30 degrees.

OK, let me clarify here.
True isometric is 30 degrees.
45 degrees is planometric.
Pixel isometry is 26.67(rounded) degrees. Any other angle doesn't work well from an aesthetic perspective.

The above is an angle of 22.66(roughly) degrees slope.

This is an attempt to make a line at roughly 30 degrees. As you can see, it looks unclean and doesn't work well.

Now, onto critique and such.
I like what you're doing with the house, and I have to say that I like the way you're going with the sprite. I may be able to help a little bit with the sprite, but no promises.

I'd also like to say that I want this thread to get back on topic, since the original purpose of it is being ignored. Consequent posts arguing over the angle of isometric pixel art and debating of semantics will not be welcomed with open arms.

Thanks =), i looked at some isometric games to see how i can make it better, so i added the shading on one side and just ripped the roof, and since u say the sprite is alright i guess i can try to finish it now that i see its not completely off thanks =)

*Note*-I might be gone for 1 or 2 weeks after friday because i might go to mexico with my family, but when i get back i'll have alot of time to work on this since tomorrows my last day of school =)

I actually think the cute, simple style of breeze is well-suited for isometric views. Nice job so far. You could probably make the lighting on the right side a little more dark to make it stand out better, but overall, you're doing good work :thumb:.

Not the one that I linked to about 5 posts above yours.

dp and big bump...
well i'm finally back, and thinking of quitting rmxp, mainly because when i need the littlest help no one bothers -.-, either that or i'll just stop contributing/helping and just finish a game solo...

So your quitting this project? You have 2 pages of helpful comments and criticism, that IS how the community usually contributes. Occasionally someone with skill will help you out and draw a sketch for you but that's about it.

And trust me, I know the feeling. When I released my first breeze sprite, I was expecting immediate attention and CC (not that I have an ego or anything, I just didn't know how the boards worked). It was a good 5 days before the first comment came .
I have also browsed other sites and this has the most interactive community believe it or not.

I guess the point I am trying to make is to not give up on this. This is a great contribution and you are doing a wonderful job with it. I wouldn't give up on it because people aren't helping the way you expected them to. Please continue this, it's great and I hope that you don't give up on this.

nah not after comments and cc, i just want a little help making the stuff =P
and i'm still gona finish the template, and maybe make a breeze tileset template (just leave it incomplete but outlines and basic colors or something) and maybe some day people will build off this
i'm gona be making a game using this style in iso so after the game is complete i'll release what i got
~note
the charaset is almost complete and looks better

Oh ok, well I respect you using it for your own game. I can't wait to see how your game and the rest of this template turns out!
