Hey there RMXPedophiles!

This thread is for the discussion of your projects for the November Event. Please use the main thread for discussion of the contest itself and this thread to tell us how you're doing, what you're doing, comment on other people's entries and so on!

You don't have to discuss things here if you don't want to, of course. If you want to keep your project a secret until you submit it that's okay and if you'd prefer to just use regular ways of telling people about your project then that's fine and dandy too but if you need the thread it's right here!

Okay then, off you all go!

I'm going for a cutesy warm-feeling project, with no battles (or if there are battles it'll be some form of cute and cuddly battle system). I think I've got an idea planned out for it. It won't be based on Vengeance like I said, it's gonna be a completely new game in a new land. I don't want to give away too much info, but I'm making a custom tileset for this (custom RTP tileset that is, I can't do my own stuff or at least not in the timeframe) and custom characters (again, RTP template). It'll be based around minigames mainly, building up for a big finale.

I'm also going to try and get a MySQL script in it, hooked up to a database and website for the game, for leaderboards and for showing who played the game. Just to be a little different. But it wont be elitest with "best player", it'll have er... Idk, haven't planned it all out yet.

Anyway. It'll be called "Snowfall" as that's the name I normally use for Winter in my projects. Snowfall is a big festival, like Christmas, but lasting the whole month of December. (It still includes Christmas in it, it's not some replacement like "Winterfest" or whatever the Christmas-bashers suggested).

Anyway. I'm not releasing any screenshots or more info, as I don't want to spoil anything; and i don't want to build up hype for a game that's just made for fun :) I'm just posting to let ya'll know I'm making a project for this contest.

(lol snowfall sounds like sandfall)

I am making an RPG which plays on a little Snow Island.
Story: (may sound VERY cheap, because of my bad english, and yeah it is only a small RPG XD)
It is about a village on that island which has an epidemic.
The problem is that there seems to be nothing that can heal the illness.
Your goal is it, to find a way to cure the villagers.
Gameplay:
It will feature three dungeons (each dungeon takes about 15 minutes or more to beat)
Which will be filled with little puzzles.
Also it has the Tankentai Battle System (yeah, I use VX) with a small extra in it, which will make it
a bit more interesting ;)
I think that's it.
(If you want to help me: I may need some sprites and one or two little scripts :P)

By 60.25<p>MWA HA HA!  Free hand spriting again :D  The entire project :D - well maybe not totally free, that snow mound in this pick is based off of that winter tileset by Zany Zora (I think)... but other than that! MWA HA HA<p>You play Jerold or whatever I change his name to latter, a boy trying to find the perfect Christmas present for his li'l school yard crush.  You have hair brained schemes to get the money, to get a present, and all that jazz - but of course, constantly you are thwarted.  You learn a thing or two, as Jerald along the way.  Oh, and someone dies :s<p>The basic game play is mostly side scrolling style, with conversational points here and there.  And minigames!<p>Play your friends in a snowball fight, and eventually take on the school bully D:<
Try to compete in the Christmas Carol Sing Off to win the big prize!
And there's other stuff like a pie eating contest, and even ice skating.  It's going to be fun :D . . . I hope :x

Well, mmy game's called Wonder.  It's based off of many Christmas specials I've read or watched when I was a kid.  It's suposed to be mainly cute, although there are maybe some sad points.
you play in a place called Wonder, which obviously is based off Winter Wonderland.  The protagonist, named Howard, is in the frosty meadow with his girlfriend,Candy, and they build a snowman.  They sucessfully finish him up, but wish that he had something unique on him.  Howard adds an odd hat that he found on the floor.  The snowman comes alive, but runs away for some reason.  Howard and Candy decide to find him, to see whats wrong.  But with the sun suddenly getting hotter, and some of the snow starting to melt, the two hurry to find him, and check with Randy the weatherman, to see whats up with the sun.  The game will be in VX, because I feel like thats the perfect style for this game.  The game will most likely have 30% custom graphics, and minigames, such as sleigh racing, Christmas present-delivery, and some easy going, non-frustrating puzzles, 80% of which are optional.  I hope to see if its enjoyable.

Oh Yeah! Count me in for this. And get ready for my game idea.....

Super Santa Bros!

It's a platform game in a snowy town environment, with Santa as Mario. You jump around, gathering presents (instead of coins), and getting to the chimney at the end of the level. You're timed, and they'll be a whole little world to unlock... Right, I better get started.

My entry will be a sort of spin-off of my main game. Set in the same universe, though. It's one of the character's birthdays, so you have to buy them a present and have a surprise birthday party for them, and such. Then you get to explore the surrounding town and play various minigames, like snowball fighting, sledging, in order to save up for a turkey.

I have good hopes for all this.

Way to bite off my snowball fight game and Tachiba's sleigh racing D:<
Well... that is assuming sledging is like a sled which is pretty much a sleigh... unless the sleigh is like an actual sleigh and horse drawn... in which case... umm... Way to bite off my snow ball fight D:<

Haha everyone's thinking of the same minigames that's actually really cool.  It'll be really interesting.  I'd love to see how they stack up against each other, as far as how well each one is done and how differently they are done.  Unless everyone but me uses an abs to simulate that is.  Well I can't say "everyone but me", since I might be doing it to if this event system I got planned is too buggy or just not working like I hope.

Good luck to everyone doing snow ball fights! :D

The Sleigh Racing and Snowball fights were both features of my Winter game last year. The one that I am resurrecting for this year. I've nixed the Snowball Fights and fully implemented the Sleigh Racing though (its very fun, actually. I need someone to design two or three more courses though.)

Well, it is a christmas project, so you can't exactly NOT have snowball fighting! :P

Well, maybe you're right. Maybe I should do something a tad more original...

No, no I was only kidding.
There's a theme here, we're going to over lap.

It's like having a Halloween themed game and NOT having to face a real life monster or have a trick-or-treating minigame.

I was sincere when I said I wanted to see how many people pulled off snow ball fighting differently :(

Heh. Maybe I will take a crack at it again. To make my Sleighing game, I remade the Game_Player class to handle a constantly moving object. When I went to make the Snowball fight game, I did a similar thing, which I don't think is ideal for the scenario.

My game is going to be a bit more serious and not as light-hearted. I don't want to give too much away, but it'll be about two twin orphans living at a cruel orphanage (kind of an Oliver Twist ripoff, I know) who know there is a better life out there, and try to escape (during winter of course, and with warm fuzzy feelings included). I don't know what I'll do about the battle system, though, whether I'll make it side-view, front-view...bleh. I thought my game sounded pretty good until I came here, not it just seems...average. D:

I'm developing the plot right now. I wish I knew how to sprite or script (or both) so at least the game would stand out a bit more.

I'm currently bouncing between two concepts and in the time until I decide I'll just keep making graphics. Basically it's either an action-platformer with all winter based levels and a christmas based story, or a teaser at my real game which is more of a sim type game.
I have lots of graphics to do before I have to decide though because either way they'll need the same characters and tiles ^_^

WIP
Penguin: Ultimate Sleigh Ride
Play as a penguin new to the antarctic, he must play sleigh races and get points(By collecting items in a race, and coming in the top three). With the points you earned you can by parts for your sled to upgrade it. Win all the tournaments, win the game.

Deputy - The game sounds awesome!

"An Empty Present"
I am waiting for one.

This game is about a boy, Nathan, who hasn't received any present from their parents for twelve years. His brother, Paul, always receives presents from his parents. It will be his 13th birhtday on the coming December 25. He will be excited if he will receive any present from his parents. What will be his fate? Will he receive any present?
I will be using breeze graphics in creating this game.

Eh, this is going to quite an experience for me, as I took the first idea I had and it turned out, well, not like the stuff I usually do at all. Anyway, presenting...

~Winter's All Around~

Title not definitive. What a nice start . So the story is actually two stories, switching between them now and then. One being from a father's point of view, after years of trying to find a land of legend called "Hiverland", the crew (so it's on a boat) decide to go back to homeland for the decade-ly celebrations of "Invierno". To him, it's a little bitter sweet - he'd really like to see his family again, yet something tells him that they were very close to finding the promised land. However, nature can be restless in this time of the year... The other half being from the daughter's point of view. Even though with her mother dead a year ago, she does her best to take care of her little brother. Then, trouble starts...

I hope I'll actually be able to pull it off right, but I have good hopes for this. Well, we'll see.
