Windows going on Safari?

Has anyone else tried using the beta version of Apple's Safari web browser in windows?

I downloaded it earlier today and must say that i'm quite impressed, i'm using it instead of firefox at the moment because i find it loads faster, runs faster and it looks way slicker as well!
Its very simillar in the way that you use it to Firefox as well so theres not really any shortcut relearning to do either.

I say its definately worth a try anyway... does anyone else use this?

Well I assume you didn't hear how badly it got ripped to shreds by hackers and exploiters? You're going to regret running it over Firefox.

Also, people don't even really use it on the Mac anyway because its a resource hog and lacks many features.

Hmm, well ever since i got a wireless router the amount of hack attacks that i got on my computer dropped off to nothing, its a pain getting it to let the stuff i want it to let through.. let alone anything else!

As for features, i really don't use many in my browser... i use bookmarks, sometimes rss feeds, browse, tabs, and like it so save form information... thats pretty much all i use; so if safari doesn't have loads of extras im not bothered.

As for the resource issue, while it does seem to be using a little more RAM, its running and loads lots faster than my firefox.

Hmm,
Point taken!

Thats the problem with Beta software... on the plus side i don't think the userbase will be enough to make actually using these exploits worthwhile at the moment.

the only possible use i can see for safari on windows is for web developers to check how a site looks in different browsers. i honestly don't think many people short of complete apple fanboys "forced" to use windows for whatever reason will find it APPLICATION OF THE YEAR MUST GET EVERYONE WITHOUT IT IS A LOSER or whatever.

"world's best browser". same clashing brushed metal layout itunes has, touted as "elegant" and "simplistic", and receiving about as much of my attention as itunes.

Well the main use i could see is probably for people on slower connections, although bug ridden, no one has denied that it has improved loading times.

Personally in my opinion i want IE7 to stay dominant as long as possibe so that all the hackers focus on that!

Around 60% of mac users use it on OSX (30% Firefox). It has some obvious advantages on OSX : integration, design and speed. The ram problem isn't a stopper, as it shares dynamic libraries with the rest of the system, thus sharing some ram usage with the system.

Of course, those advantages aren't really significant on the windows version (you can't integrate less than that !)

I'm using Firefox anyway, but I reckon that Safari is a very good browser on OSX. On windows, it's nothing more than a development environment for websites and the iPhone.

BTW, the exploits found are windows only : firefox had the same problem when first ported on windows, for system-based reasons. And the more browsers the better.

Well actually, I like the aspect of Safari on windows, I mean I love the safari browser on mac, it's just fun, but once they iron out the bugs I'll most likely be using it, and besides what software isn't bugged on release, I mean look at XP, Vista, 98, Several games, etc.
