Widescreen Problems

Ah, long-time, no bother, everyone!

All right, I've just installed RMXP on my Vista Laptop. It's got a widescreen display (as most laptops do), and this is causing me problems. Both the script editor and database windows are too long to fit the screen, so I can't see the bottom of either of them. I can't resize them either. Is there a way to set them for widescreen?

How big is your display? If you have an old copy of RMXP, you might want to head over to Enterbrain's website to see if you can download the 1.02a update. If I remember correctly, that did something about window sizes. (Although I can't seem to remember what, exactly)

Ah, all right. Yeah, I haven't done that yet. I'll try it. I have the patch on my desktop, but it's a square display so I've never noticed this before. I'll see if that works. Thanks!

Ukey... I updated the program, and the description does say it's supposed to fix that problem... but it doesn't. I made sure it had been updated to version 1.02a as well. It's listed in the program data, but my windows are still too big.

This happened to me once also, but I cant quite remember what I did to fix it... Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling... or go to enterbrains (rmxp's) website and downloading a fresh copy of the updated and everything program and reinstall using that. That or you can try changing the display on your laptop to a higher resolution.

I tried uninstalling and downloading the complete updated version, but it's still not working. I guess I can mess with my rez a little, though it might be a problem with my visual imparement. I'll see what happens if I do that.

EDIT: Okay, can't do that either, *sigh* My rez is set as 1366x786 and won't go any higher. Wow... This is frustrating...

You can't set your resolution to some 4:3 ratio resolution? It will look weird, but it may allow you to see what you need to in the program.

Ugh.... I'm about to give up. It's not working. I have to choose from a drop-down menu for resolution, and I've tried changing it. It won't even open RPG Maker if it's an uncommon resolution... I hate Vista... I really do... I'm probably just going to have to forget about this and only work when I have access to my desktop.

Not just vista, weird resolutions have always messed with RM, from my experiance with them anyway.

Try changing your system fonts, if the fonts are too big, then it'll be pushing everything offscreen regardless.
