I need a portfolio website and my complete lack of webpage design skills is disallowing me from creating this on my own, apart from using boring WYSIWYG editors. If anyone out there is looking for websites to add to their own portfolio, why not? Just checking interest in this first before I go in to more detail.

Seriously though, if you want a professional job you're gonna have to pay for it. What kind of portfolio do you need to put up? There are dozens of great community sites for everything from painting to photography to music that work really well, are easy to use, come with the benefit of a built-in community, and already look better than you'll get out of a free design. If you need a website with your own domain slapped on it, there is a huge variety of prebuilt open-source software, most of which can be customized with visual themes and plugins and whatnot. This sort of stuff can be done by a novice with little-to-no technical skill for free.
