Which FF should I buy?

I already have 7, 8, 9, and 10. I'm looking to buy something from the older games, and Anthology and 6 seem to be in my price range.

Which should I get?

FF Anthology (features FF4 and FF5)
FF 6

VI. Is in a perpetual fan war with VII for the title of "Best FF." Excellent story, decent character development (although I personally think it suffers from too many characters), memorable and hateable villain, and excellent graphics for the time.

V was merely okay, I love IV, but that's probably nostalgia speaking more than anything. :P

Also, if you are getting FF Origins (contains VI), you get Chrono Trigger, arguably one of the best RPGs of all time.

Well, actually...

Origins is I & II
Anthology is V & VI
Chronicles is IV & Chrono Trigger

I recommend VI. I do not, however, recommend that you get either of the PlayStation compilations I just listed. Unless you're a very patient person, you'll be forced to deal with horrid lag times that destroy the experience of the game. If you still have a working SNES, you should try to get Final Fantasy III (VI) and/or Chrono Trigger. Or you could wait for Final Fantasy V and VI to be released on the GBA later on this year.

I never got any slowdown (Which is what you meant) at all, period with them. It may be because I played them on PS2, but still - never any problem.

If I had to choose between IV and VI, I'd kill myself.

:D

Thank you, I wasn't sure and should have looked it up. And ditto and not getting any lag with the compilations. :-/

If you don't have to get a FF, try looking for Dark Chronicle, as its the same price as most PS1 games nowadays anyway, and massive.

I second this. While the early Final Fantasys are great, Dark Chronicle blows them all out of the water. It's not turn-based like FF, but there is so much to do. If you get bored of one aspect, go do another. Besides, it's actually quite a bit cheaper.

Dark Chronicle - $15.83CAD
Final Fantasy Origins - $49.99CAD
Final Fantasy Anthology - $49.99CAD
Final Fantasy Chronicles - $69.99CAD
Final Fantasy Tactics - $89.99CAD New, $69.99CAD used.

Final Fantasy Tactics got reprinted as a 'Greatest Hits' title a while back. I'm pretty sure you can find it around decently easy for about $20. It USED to be worth a horrible lot of money (I sold my old copy for $70), since it was great, and rare (rather like Valkyrie Profile). Now of these old PS1 games I want reprinted, I want Qubix (I think that was it) that was a really good puzzle game, and I played it like three times, and now it's super rare.

Andy changed his avatar? Blasphemy.

If you are stuck to chosing Final Fantasy games, IV or VI is the win. X-2 if you've got a PS2, or if you stray from FF get Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

I live in the UK, and where I am buying it is like this:

Dark Chrionicle: £25.99
Final Fantasy Origins: £11.99
Final Fantasy Anthology: £17.99
Final fantasy Chronicles: Not even sold in this country
Final fantasy Tactics: Not even sold in this country
Final Fantasy VI: £14.99

The prices there look cheap but that is because they are er... dare I say the word? Preowned. I can't afford to cough up the £50 odd just to buy a game...

I'm taking a wild stab in the dark, but you don't have GameStop's in Canada, do you? Cause FFT at GameStop costs around 10 bucks in the USA.
