Where do you hope to get?

This probably sounds fucksocietyish and lame but to be honest what I'd really like is to get enough cash saved up to be able to work without having what society classes as a "job". Like... childish visions of being an explorer, or helping people in other countries.

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get a job and take some online courses in game design. I really can't take school anymore. It's fun sometimes, but I feel like I'm just wasting my time. Plus, I'm still unsure about what I want to do and I'm not going to waste money just to make everyone happy.

Ideally, I'd like to become an author, but I'd have to finish something first.

dont take game design or pay for online courses about it. waste of money education. learn something useful instead like economix and polictics

I don't know if you're from the US, but if you are you could consider the Peace Corps. It's certainly not a career, but you'd get to go help people in another country. (Assuming you qualify and are accepted.)

Im in my last year of high school (13th year of education where im from just so you know.....)

And next year I plan to study computer animation or computer aided design.
Not too sure after that.

I don't know. Since I'm 18 and without a job, I think when I finish college I want to try for a job. I'm in my first year of Game Design, and I'm just too busy with school and homework for a sidejob. I don't wanna waste my holidays for it either. It would be good if I could get my driver's license when I finish school, because public transportation can be a pain.

Already graduated highschool, already accepted to uni, two years in to a worthless degree....Just waiting for my letter telling me if I'm studying at Ritsumeikan University next year or not. Yay. :specs:

EDIT: And getting a driver's license and car this year would be awesome too. Being able to leave my apartment would be awesome. And maybe at some point getting a coherent idea for a game and actually making it instead of just dicking around making maps and sprites, that'd be awesome. -_____-"

I want to become the owner of a big corporation/franchise one day, but the catch; nobody would know it! I could come into the place and work alongside my employees, and they'd think I was just like the general manager of the place or something. Or, I could in turn take days, weeks or even months off and nobody would think a big deal of it, I'd have somebody in my place to run things if I needed or wanted to be away. Yeah, that'd be cool we'll see if it ever happens.

Alternatively, I want to find something silly that I can get rich as hell off of. Example; whenever you order a pizza, ever notice how there is a little white "Barbie table" as people call it, pressed into the middle of the pizza? That little plastic thing keeps stacks of pizzas from smashing one another, the guy who created that gets 10 cents everytime somebody orders a pizza. Fuckin' genious, that dude is set for life! Thats kinda what I wanna be able to do one day.

Finding a cheap ass way like that to make money to set me for life, that would be awesome! I still might work for the hell of it, if I ever get bored with life, but knowing I don't have to do shit to survive would be awesome.

Oh yeah, and I'd like to finish my game one day. Similiar to what the poster above me said, I spend so much time dicking around writting scripts but I never make/finish maps or sprites or nothing. I've got a stack of battler-worthy pictures I've drawn over the past 12 years that I want to color and resize and make actual 'battlers' out of, but I'm too lazy and spend too much time at work for that *sigh*

of course... that's merely a hope.

I also hope to be the guy who get's to press the button to start the nuclear holocaust. Just for my own personal "the world just needs to get it over with already" feelings I have every now and then. This probably won't happen either.


What will happen, however - because I will do everything I can, regardless of the risks involved to get here - get a doctorates in Psychology, as I will not settle for a PhD for personal reasons I care not to go into, and then make a nice living for myself and my family.

If chances arise, and I end up making more money than I need, I'll do the math, and give anything I will not need (including emergency funds and personal "have some fun and buy a few things" funds) to charities. Because by then I'll have been in every social class there is - poverty, lower class, middle class, and by then upper class.
Obviously the family comes first, but anything that is not necessary that would just be an overabundance goes to someone who needs it. Honestly I see no point in having more money than you can count, because then things only get complicated from there, and I don't want a complicated life when I can have just as much happiness with a simple one where I've fulfilled what I want out of it.

Hopes and dreams are just that, if you take no action to change them.
