Where do you hope to get?

Whether you're in school, college, university, in a job, or in the dole office, where do you hope to get in the next few years? What are your aims in life?

Personally I'd like to get into University, probably at Newport, to study Computer Games Programming. I know that sounds really lame and all but that's what I wanna do. I'd like to end up working for a games company but ideally any job in computer science that isn't completely boring will suit me :)

I'm in high school right now, and I definitely want to get into a university. I dunno what I'm gonna go in for, but probably something to do with science. Right now, I'm looking to perhaps study atmospheric sciences to get a career in meteorology or climatology. I'm hoping to maybe even get a scholarship or something, maybe to study in another country.

i left school years ago and i'm having a bitch time going back. stay in school, kids. :fap:

ill take any job that'll pay me enough money to live whilst i continue being a penniless indiefag musician. i'm trying to go to school for some kind of computer or programming bullshit right now, hopefully that'll do the job nicely.

Well, I'm going to MIT right now. My short-term goals include graduating, probably with a degree in CS or EE/CS, and sticking around for a fifth year to get a master's. After that, idk. I might work off some debt for a year or two if I need to or I'm tired of school, but if I like research as much as I think I will, I'd like to pick up a Ph.D. As for what I want to do with my life, I think AI research would be the shit, but we'll see if everything pans out. I'm interested in like 50,000 things, so maybe I'll veer off in a completely different direction.

I'm currently in high school right now, and I'm hoping to get into the Colorado School of Mines for their programming and engineering courses. However, Ive found that I do have a strong interest in some political and history courses, so I might veer it into an entirely different direction and study history and business at the University of Virginia.

If all else, fails, I'll see about getting an admission into the Rocky Mountain Bartending College.

I'd like to finish my current degree in game design and then get a another degree in 3D art. Then I'll either go on to a four year college, or try to get into a game company (probably through QA.) Of course, all through this I would like to at least get a good start on a book for once rather than having a whole bunch of ideas, but nothing concrete.

I've been accepted to UAT, so I want to get my Bachelors in Software Engineering with emphasis in Video Game Programming. After that, I want a job so I can pay off the massive amount of debt I'll be in after college.

Woo....Fun

I intend to finish my Masters in Software Engineering in the next few years. (I am already Bachelor)
I dunno where to go from there. I am lucky not to have a debt so I don't have to concentrate on that.
It's probably either a job or PhD. Depends on the market situation at the time of graduation.

I also hope you have hugged plenty of more people :3
*hugs*

Similar to most who have posted on this topic I would also like to start as a Software Engineer and work my through Video Game Development/Programming. Even though I am still in high school apart of me feels as if this dream is closer than it seems to be. I mean I've learn how to understand and read various computer languages and I'm on my way to attending a college that specializes in Video Game Programming. One would think I would be a bit more excited about such a plan.

I hope video game programming isn't becoming a growing trend. It's bad enough that Game Design and Game Art are flooded.

The less there are, the better.

Well, considering where this was posted, you're getting skewed results. Pretty must everyone here is at least somewhat interested in video game design. Personally, I'll do pretty much anything related to computers, from Tech Support (Yay! Help the stupid newbs download the interwebz!) to programming.

Well, with where I am applying they are mostly a year of Computer Science and Math, a year applying that to games, a gap year in an industry placement, and then a final year finishing a final project.

So even if games isn't an option, it gives you the skills to do other IT related jobs.

Awesome Bro

Well the course I'm on in college at the moment is Computer Practitioning, basically it's a rounded course where we have 18 units that cover near enough everything to do with a computer, ranging from software development and games design, to computer hardware and troubleshooting etc.

Originally I was going for a place on a pure Games Design course, where they had various engines to work with, along with mocap etc. I recieved a letter from this college saying I was able to join the course, so I went for the interview, and they said I had a place, however if I wanted to change my mind, I should tell them, and it hit me, why should I only study in one area of IT, when I can build up a whole bunch of skills and open up my career options, so I took the Practitioning course, and here I am, on my way to getting a Diploma, lol.

a lot of games design courses are rubbish though, because after the three or four years spent using specific technology it has become outdated and redundant and just generally NOT USED by the time you graduate, thus wasting all years of your life, sucks. obviously depends on where you go, though, i'd imagine those with work places are quite decent

i don't know where i'm going to be in the future, i have no real idea of a career i want to get into or where i see myself going in the future, which is funny as i am at university right now...

I'm in high school, and looking to go to a University for a degree in Computer Science, as I not only want to program games, but programs and applications as well, so I don't want to get a hugely specific degree.

I just rejoined the military (was in for 6 years before) so hopefully after the next couple years I will be coming home from the middle east with a bank account full of cash :D

I am currently a year into college and am graduating with a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Advertising. I Hope to have a steady job in advertising in the next few years, and earn enough to live and support a family, which I dont have now but can see that in the next 6 to 10 years.
