Where are you in your project right now?

We have tons of people making games, but hardly any active project threads! We should fix that.

But, anyway, I made this thread just to ask where you are in your main project right now (or at least the project you're doing most work in at the moment).

Just starting? On a break? Mid way through? N-n-nearly finished?

I'm on an unwanted break right now but when I get back into it I'm picking up my game from a first released demo, which is a start. (Although is it really a demo when it's just the first x minutes of the game?) Should motor through quite well from there.

Awesome Bro

To be honest, I should really just give up trying to make games... I always get like... <10% into them, have some great ideas and stories planned and shit, and then think of all the work I'll have to do, and my brain is like "Nah bro, you can't do this, it's too much... let's do something else instead", and logically, I have to agree, I mean, it's my brain... I'm not going to disobey! So I end up quitting, lol.

I don't get much of a say in either projects I'm making sprites for. Lucid Awakening 2 is the closest to being finished. If he didn't decide to go commercial it might have been finished a long time ago. Involving money just kicked my perfectionism into overdrive.

Dies Irae is idk. It's hard to work on spritesheets when you don't know how it'll be used. I've done 4 1/2 battlers and in that time the characters got new artwork the main character got redesigned. As far as I know the last spriter just disappeared. I did some edits to the few characters they made, but since the redesign and the fact that battle system is developing beyond the basics; I'm just going to make something new.
It was also suppose to be a non-commercial game. A kickstarter had been attempted at least once. I know he's working with voice actors and doing radio play's on youtube. He's pretty serious about the project.

I have two projects. One from the ancient past and one I'm almost done with.

The game from the ancient past was completely finished about 4 years ago. However, the idea of legitimately doing a full release somehow summoned a great amount of anxiety in me. I suppose it had something to do with the finality of releasing something you have been working on for years? It all seems silly looking back on it now. I have decided to do a quick final bugtest of the game and then give it the release it deserved ages ago.

My other game is a commercial game. I originally had hoped to complete it in a few weeks (A friend and I made an essentially fully working prototype in a 24 hour coding binge.) But this was hilariously optimistic. It seems that every week we decide on some new feature or change to make that ends up setting the development period even more back. Furthermore, because it is a commercial game, no small amount of effort has gone into researching how the market works for such a thing, the best way to acquire licenses and the like, and what our profit model will even be. Finally, as this is my first experience making a game with multiple people (I have two friends working on it with me) I find that there are frequent waiting periods because something you were hoping to create relies on something your co-worker is halfway done with. Thankfully, I'd say we're (truly) almost done, barring any sudden and unexpected glitches or large feature additions.

I have created the title screen, introduction sequences, and now about to finish a kind of battle tutorial. After that, because of the kind of game it is, everything else is just adding "more" of everything. Might post the title for crits but it's not that important a part of a game.

Will post a project thread when a demo is ready.

I am in conditional branch hell. xD It would be nice if I could use common events, but alas I'm limited at the moment! Trying to create the first battle in my game... then I'll hopefully be able to breeze through a quick scene and get a demo so I can get some feedback. All in all, it'll probably be like 5 minutes of gameplay. :x But more will come!

Awesome Bro

I have the initial maps, added the next area. I'm working out the storyline and the basic functionality of the upgrade system. More creepy soundtrack work and I want to do voice overs instead of text with closed captions. Custom art is in the work for tilesets and battlers...More functional enemies as well...

And schoolwork.

I found myself getting distracted making a mini-game...The security force Director has a thing of old school RPGs.

Yay, my battle system works :)

So when you defeat a monster, you get a choice whether to loot it (get exp, gold and items) or capture it (joins your party replacing your current monster). There will eventually be a roster of monsters you own, but not right now.

The first time you fight, you don't have a monster, and you soon see WHY you need monsters in the game: you get bloodied up (quite visually), leaving scars on your character for the rest of the game, and have to flee the battle to find a weapon to aid you. Once you get a monster you're fine.

I'm about to organize my resources into a strange system. I think.

Tilesets (ACE)
* Snow

-- Creator 02.png
-- Creator_Creator 01.png

Portraits
* Man
-- Creator 01.png
-- Creator1 01.png

I have to move and rename everything. :(

This sounds very interesting! I look forward to seeing where this goes. :)

At risk of getting bogged down with custom graphics again, I can't help it. Trying to stick with just the rtp as much as possible until the game is fifteen :-/ ished.

That was meant to say "finished" but this kindle produces some epic typos.
