i remember when i first got RPG Maker XP, about 2 years ago or so. MAN did I suck at it! I had no idea there was anything as a database or anything like that.
later, when i figured out what the database was, i had NO IDEA how to map. Theres a video on youtube by grod456 and it has mapping that sucks like heck. no layer. thats what mine looked like.

God, when have I not had a nooby moment? I guess my first one was way back when I was in an anime-loving phase of my life, and I kept on insisting my old game (Which, from what I remember, people liked the story, hated the mapping) would have "naruto-inspired drawings!"


I look back with shame, though I wish I could get that old MANUSCRIPT (Haha, shameless plug) back, I loved the story idea.

I remember when I first made the rmxp account, I was sharing it with a friend (I can't do that, I know! I was an idiot back when.) in which he would supposedly "make" icons for my game. Turns out he was just ripping sprites from FinalFantasy. He posted a bunch here, and I got an infraction. I forced him to make his own account after that, however I don't think he ever made a post with it. Were still good friends, and I would trust him with my children. Just not with my Internet's.

Actually, no, I used to request a lot (and by a lot I mean I requested 3 scripts and various artworks from Xk8... but I think that's about it.  When I look back on my old projects (actually I did that today), some of the stuff still seems golden!

The most 'noob' thing I remember doing was flaming some asshole in the symposium.  Note that this was when I was a very nice (yes I was a long time ago) poster, and I felt bad afterwards.

Hell, I don't think I ever really fit the description of 'noob' that most people would put forward about members here.  I mean, the first sort of thing I ever posted in the RMXP section was some character set work, which was semi-decent at least.

Long ago, when I just joined the forum, I was mistaking the word "You'll" for "Y'all". And I was not only correcting other people's correct posts, it seemed as if my english sucked, or something:

"Are you'll sure there's no way to do this?"

I remember back in the day. My first game on RM2K "The Quest for the Orb of Light" (or TQFTOOL for short) which was REALLY badly mapped, evented (i never named switches and had to go back through hundreds of events to find the right switch) and I actually... after several days of work, came up with a fully functioning day and night system using only switches (that's right, i didn't know what variables were).

This definitely wasn't my first forum, but in my first forum I posted a bunch of pictures of myself and I guess one of them was lightly seductive, so some dude copied and pasted my face onto a porn pic and distributed it. Luckily it was a bad photoshop job but it was still embarrassing ;_;. Especially after I got a couple PM's from n00bs saying, "lullz u's a whore" and "can u post more pics lol".

I can't say I've ever had a "noob" moment. I use to just argue with a lot of the staff (probably ccoa the most) and that lead to me trying to be a forum menace like Despain, Andy, Minkoff, and TCoFA (yeah I said names what you gonna do about it.)

To be honest my most noob times were probably as a veteran member. When I get drunk and try to communicate on the forums it usually turns out pretty bad.

Yeah... n00bish times were BAD for me.  I got pissed at rexxz and cussed him out in the IRC chat room and someone had the balls to copy it, so now I am humiliated for something I did about 2 years ago.  I believe reb still has it... if I piss her off she'll post it, so that's no fun.  Plus I was banned from the chatroom for like 2 weeks and then unbanned on July 4th.

Back in the .net days when my username was AbsolutelyBraindead, I would always hang out in the forum games which, at that point actually attracted a lot of the thinkers from the symposium. Anyway, in forum games there was a guy who posted like 3/4 of the games there, PunkKid89 who is still here I believe. I was probably 14 or 15 at the time, and I posted a new forum game. It's contents were probably something along the lines of this...

"Forum Game: How many more forum games do you think PunkKid89 can come up with?"
Estimate how many more yada yada....

I got the biggest flaming of my life from I think Andy6000 who was mod of that forum at the time and felt so ashamed. Anyone remember me yet? I don't know what the hell was going through my head at the time, but man, that was so dumb.
