What's your speed?

Wyatt is that YOUR internet speed, or Uni's ?

Cause aren't you with Sky too at your house ?

Well I live in halls five days a week so MINE

My uni doesn't get much greater but then that's just the games network (has 20mbit up though)

At home I get "up to 10mbit" but its more like 2mbit up 0.4 down

holy whatthefuck how is your upload higher than your download
my only consistent theory is that there is an evil djinni trapped in the broadband wiring for this building and he's messing shit up out of phenomenal cosmic boredom

There is such a major difference between your dorm and lab. I admit that I would have thought your dorm speed was faster. It's not very much even when considering it's wireless. I would have expected 10 or 20 Mbps.

The speed in your lab is nice :3
Since you mention ping then you may consider pingtest.net
As long as our ping is less than 10 it doesn't really matter though XD

hrm this is weird..
when using speedtest my laptop gives me what I've posted before..
but another dude sitting next to me gets much higher speeds, varying from 50 mbit download to 100 mbit
anyone know what could probably be causing this? his ping is much higher too..
also he has xp, and I windows 7

Sounds like his netcard supports 802.11n while yours don't.
My guess is that your current connection is 802.11g which has a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 54 Mbps while n has 300 or 600 Mbps.
Another possibility is that the signal in your card for some reason is just that much weaker. Maybe the quality of the components is less and thus less noise tolerant.

I know, right? It's MIT; you'd think that our Internet would be amazing. :( I really gotta get my LAN working.

Testing at home produces odd results.

For some reason, I still have a better connection speed than some of your guys, even going halfway around the world. Please note that my upload speed remains nearly constant, whereas my download speed varies widely.

I used to get an insanely high upload speed to Mexico City. Something like 80MBps. Now it's normal again...

the upload's surprisingly halfway ok though :?

XO
I like how XO COMMUNICATIONS is all caps. Just to be different from all the rest. I don't believe the second part is an abbreviation.
