What would you want in a __________ remake?

As most of you know, there is a popular thread entitled "What would you want in a Final Fantasy VII remake?". However, most people that posted in that thread had nothing but bad things to say about the game.

FF7 aside, there are a lot of old games that we'd like to see move up to today's consoles (PSP, PS3, Wii, XBox 360, Nintendo DS, etc.) that we know in our hearts never will. Good examples:

1. Chrono Trigger
2. FFs 1-6
3. The old Metal Gears, Castlevanias, Mega Mans, etc.

If they ever make a remake for one of your favorite games (Release dates 1980-2000), what would you like to see?

NOTE: SAYING ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT ANY GAME WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. I WILL CONTACT THE MODS AND YOUR POST WILL BE EITHER EDITTED OR REMOVED.

In fact, the old Metal Gears had some kind of remake, as they've been rescripted to work on the PS2 as a part of the MGS3 Subsistence package... while it's nor really a 'what-you-would-imagine'-remake, it's still a technical remake... just to point that out.

Aside from that, I don't believe in remakes at all... I mean, we all have or had a SNES, not? (and you guys have to admit that the SNES featured the best games ever in history ^_^ ) Well, don't 'what-you-would-imagine'-remake them, just redo them to work with newer consoles, being available on the Wii's Virtual Console or PS3's equal thingy, or make them available for handhelds... (the DS features all of the SNES' buttons, so go ahead, Nintendo!) Just don't make them all anew, destroying the great nostalgic feeling all of us deep-from-the-heart-gamers get when playing one of the old milestones again!

I wouldn't necessarily care for a FFVII remake, but I would rather want FF1-6 remade before VII ever does. But I would want a Chrono Trigger remake and FF-VI remakes.

YEESSS! BlueScope, :2thumb:, just excellent.

Remake the original FF Tactics. Better graphics and animated summons.

Actually, that's exactly what I meant. Exact remakes.
This thread is for mentioning what new features you'd like a particular remake to include (better graphics, voiceovers, new sidequests, etc.).

Nobody wants to play a remake for a game that tingled their spines with happiness just so their respect for that game can decrease.

Mega Flare

they are remaking it for the PSP..... well i want a Lufia 3 remake!

Hm... I wonder how you could state you want better graphics without saying that the current ones are bad (which'd be against your rules)... but well ^_^

And new graphics, voiceovers, all that... that's stuff I don't want to see in a remake, because games like Lufia 2 (my all-time favorite RPG, as it seems), Terranigma, Metal Gear, all these great games are already great. I don't need a remake to make everything I connect with these games spoiled in a way... not to talk about way older games you had to draw your own maps for to not get lost, or that were so insanely hard you bit off your tongue every other try... you won't see something in any remake nowadays, just commerce-oriented gamedesign...

Ah, perhaps I should've been more specific about my rules. Let me explain.

Let's take the game Pong, for instance. People love playing it; the guy that invented it became very rich for his time. However, though I'm not saying the game has any faults, if they would somehow make a remake of it...

Say I posted saying "I want a Pong remake", I'm gonna say that I wish the graphics were better. But I can already tell what everything is, right? One of my favorite mottoes is "If you can tell what a picture of something is, its artist succeeded". What I'm saying is that, even though the graphics do not need to be updated, I would LIKE to see the game with, say, PS3 graphics. And maybe more features, like designing a full-bodied character holding the paddle, placing obstacles on the table, and controlling the speed of the ball.

I wasn't saying that the graphics of any of the older systems were bad. I was suggesting that, since video game companies seem to be so infatuated with graphics nowadays, that gamers may want to see updates for their favorite games to, how you say, "keep up with the TIMES".

I hope I've explained that clearly enough.

I would love to see River City Ransom done in the Warriors style.

RCR was my favorite game and still is to this day

*pauses...*
That could be my next project
*ponders a moment and leaves*

Well, I guess I'll state right here and now that the recent Tales of Destiny remake is probably one of the best ones on the market at this time. Not only does it feature a brand new battle system, and completely updated (And gorgeous) graphics, they kept most of the dialog and characters intact, and generally gave people a reminder that old things aren't dead yet. :thumb:

That said, I think games that truely need to be redone, should be. For example, I'd love it if they remade Dark Cloud with better graphics, gameplay similar to Rouge Galaxy, and the Georama aspects of Dark Cloud 2. So I guess I'd want Dark Cloud to be remade.
