What non-medieval RPGs have you enjoyed?

I love RPGs (which is a pretty obvious statement) and my top faves are Mother 3, Okage:Shadow King (which NOBODY has seen before), Disgaea and I just bought Shadow Hearts online (a friend of mine was playing it and I thought it was cool.)

My own game takes place in 2003.

I was wondering what games other people have played that aren't swords and sorcery-ish or sci-fi (as-in modern day RPGs)? And games like Final Fantasy 8 and Kingdom Hearts don't count in my mind because they're all over the place. Final Fantasy VII as well because it's more steampunk.

Oh man thank you for reminding me to play Disgaea. It's been a couple of weeks and I really need to get back on that. Anyway it really depends on what you would consider medieval. Like, I would say that most RPGs are not by any means (strictly or not) medieval. Most of the later Final Fantasies, for instance.

Earthbound, definitely.

Pretty much was THE non-medieval RPG back in the SNES days (well, there were others, but 99% of them either never got translated, or were games nobody's ever heard of--I think I remember seeing a robot-based futuristic RPG or two, but I can't remember any names).

Xenogears!

Xenosaga!

YEAH!

Xenogears = my favorite RPG.

The Wild Arms series is set in the pseudo old-west, and is usually really good.

If Terranigma counts... if not, Secret of Evermore.

And now that I think about it, that technically dosen't count either. Agh.

Shin Megami Tensei.

Only some of the games made it to the states, but they're pretty much all good. Persona 2 was awesome, Nocturne was fantastic, Digital Devil Saga was fun, and Devil Summoner wasn't up to the series' high standards, but still a great game nonetheless.

Knights of the Old Republic was pretty good.
I like Phantasy Star Universe, too.
Freelancer has RPG elements...
And A Blurred Line, an Rm2k game, is one of my favorite games of all time.

Xenogears/saga. Wild ARMs. Star Ocean (not sure if 1 counts, since most of the game takes place on a medieval world). Phantasy Star (the early ones, before it was ruined).

For amature games, Fear of Life and Last Dream 3 (sadly, both unfinished).

Phantasy Star, not the older ones... The Online enabled one for Gamecube, Episode I&II, as I have never used the online version.

Shadow Hearts = <3
Koudelka = pwn (It is seriously one of the best RPGs ever)
Wild ARMs = My Fav PSX RPG ever (Don't ask me why...I dunno! lol)
Shin Megami Tensi is definately one of the better RPG series out there, by far.
La Pucelle (Although kinda Medievil) Disgea, etc...any sort of turn based tactical game like that

i think tales of symphonia is medieval. it does have some futuristic elements, but overall its very medeivalish.

chrono trigger has medieval elements but umm, it has futuristic, prehistoric n stuff, so i guess it counts? depends on topic creator.

Anachronox. When it comes to parodying videogames, Anachronox takes the cake. It's hilariously funny and yet at the same time has a very touching story. You laugh your ass off at one scene, cry the next, and then the game throws a pie in your face for another laugh rioting scene.

Garr!! (heheh, I thought I threw in Sci-Fi games as well but, oh well.) :P

Heh, Shadow Hearts: From the new world comes in on Wednesday... Ok, people pulling on my belt pants... going now..
